From introduction for 1964, Chevrolets A-Body intermediate models were a runaway success. A major redesign for 1968 brought a much sportier look with a shorter wheelbase and long-hood, short-deck styling. Legions of muscle car fans consider the Chevelle SS396, which overtook Pontiacs GTO as Americas best-selling muscle car for 1969, the best of their breed. Offered as RPO (Regular Production Option) Z25, the 1969 SS396 package included all 1966-68 appearance and performance items, plus new front disc brakes and SS Magnum 500 wheels. Five body styles were available with RPO Z25, including the upscale Malibu sport coupe and convertible, plus the El Camino, 300 Deluxe sport coupe, and 300 Deluxe sedan.
Featuring Chevrolets famed 396/325HP big-block V-8 engine, driving a 4-speed manual transmission and Positraction rear axle, this 1969 Chevelle is a true SS car with an outstanding restoration and excellent fit and finish. Extremely well sorted, this SS396 also benefits handsomely from professional detailing most recently performed by us at The Last Detail. Major mechanical components are confirmed as date code correct, as supported in photos. While already potent, the Chevelles performance is enhanced with an MSD ignition system, aluminum intake manifold, headers, and upgraded exhaust system. Edelbrock rocker covers and a matching open-element air cleaner add further appeal. Power brakes and steering deliver cruising ease, while a floor console, bucket seats, and aftermarket AM-FM radio round out the interior. As offered, this 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 is simply a great example of the most popular American muscle car from 1969 in excellent colors with an outstanding, detailed restoration.
