Description:

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454

Real SS-454 LS-5, documented with original metal. Has original proteprotect-o-plate and partial build sheet. Loaded with desirable features. Upgraded to LS-6 specs, it is healthy! Total nut and bolt, body off frame restoration, only 376 miles since. It was the cover car on the Chevelle restorer's guide.
EXTERIOR: Has outstanding fit and finish. It is lazer beam straight, all of the panels fit square and flush. Where the hood meets the headlight buckets can be a problem area and it fits beautifully on this car. The paint is polished out like red glass right down to the very bottom. It's smooth as silk, you can't feel the stripes. Jambs are painted very smooth and glossy, has new stickers, weatherstrips and sill plates. Every piece of exterior chrome and trim has been replaced. Even stainless around the windshield is polished. New windshield. It has reproduction T-3 headlights. It also has new reproduction Firestone Wide Oval tires. New SS wheels correctly painted with new trim. The convertible is a brand new white top with glass window.
INTERIOR: The interior is about as close to brand new as you can find. Beautiful pearl white upholstery. I'm sitting in the bucket seat right now and you can tell it has new cushions. Has all new trim on the seats. The side panels are all replaced in pearl white, new armrests. It also features factory power windows and power locks. On the floor the carpet and the console look all new. I'm looking at an all new dash. New pad instrument panel, heater control panel and the SS gauges including tachometer. Even the clock works. The original AM radio was rebuilt with modern insides, a digital screen shows through the original lense when turned on. It also has a tilt column with a deluxe steering wheel. The kick panels, vents and knobs are new. Inside the glove box is pristine, has a power trunk release button. All the interior lights work. Has original seatbelts front and back.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Restored and detailed to factory new condition. The 454 motor is built to 450 hp LS-6 specs. Has square port heads, LS-6 low rise aluminum intake and all the internal parts are new GM LS-6 spec parts. Let me tell you this is a healthy running 454s. It even has the LS6 deep groove pulleys so the belts don't fly off at high RPMs. Stock exhaust manifolds, valve covers and complete cowl induction system. The cowl induction also functions. Has spring clamp battery cables and a Delco battery topper. It also has GM hoses and clamps. It features power steering and power brakes. You can tell it was apart and restored, every component looks new and proper. Every surface has a smooth painted finish.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Also looks like new. Clean, dry metal with a very nicely applied spatter finish paint. It has a matching reproduction tire and new SS rim for a spare. Restored jack, new mat, weatherstrip and decals. Bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb are as glossy as the outside of the car. It has a power trunk release that works.
UNDERSIDE: Looks like a new car. The floors are spotless metal with a smooth satin black finish. The inner rockers and lower 1/4s are clean metal. The frame and chassis components are smooth metal with a nice semi gloss finish. The front end is completely rebuilt- ball joints, bushings, tie rods, springs and shocks are new. Has F-41 suspension which includes sway bars and boxed control arms. In back the suspension is new- bushings, springs and shocks. Brakes were restored, has disc in front. New brake and fuel lines. New fuel tank, sending unit and straps. Looking up at the motor it still looks spotless. Has new fuel pump, high torque starter and Miloden oil pan. Turbo 400 automatic looks just as fresh. The u-joints and driveshaft look new. Has 3.73 posi 12 bolt rear. The fat exhaust and Hooker mufflers give it a muscle car sound that wont go unnoticed.
This is one of the most desirable muscle cars of them all and it's documented! Extremely well restored, high quality throughout. The 2nd owner is the one that restored the car. He claims he owned it 20 years and bought it from the original owner. There are a bunch of Chevelles out there but they aren't this one!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
