1973 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod
With all the hype surrounding skyrocketing Corvette prices, it's no surprise that a lot of people forget that there are a lot of wonderful 'Vettes out there that still deliver Corvette fun for a reasonable price. This 1973 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod is a perfect example, with an upgraded fuel-injected small block V8, loads of options like cold A/C and power 4-wheel disc brakes, plus a great red-on-black color combination that will never go out of style. If you're looking for first-class fun at a very competitive price, this restomod Corvette is your ticket to the game.Originally code 910 "Classic White", the former owners of this '73 decided an upgrade was due, and painting this coupe bright red absolutely kicked things up a notch. The shade is much more vivid than the Mille Miglia Red offered in 1973, and the attention it attracts is exactly why we love it, and because the finish was recently applied it looks as fresh and clean in person as it does in our pictures. In our opinion, Corvettes were practically born to be red, so updating this rear chrome bumper car only improved things. The bodywork was done to a high level, with good gaps and proper surface prep that give the red paint a fantastic shine and emphasize the Corvette's seductive shape, and the fiberglass is all rock-slod with no signs of stress cracks or other issues. It's not a perfect show car, but then again you don't build a restomod to win Top Flight ribbons, and this 'lil red Corvette is worthy of any self-respecting braggart. 1973 was a great year because it combined the new urethane nose with the classic kamm-back styling and delicate chrome rear bumpers to create a new look that was 100% Corvette. Other details include a custom billet grille, bright Torque Thrusts, and a set of lift-off T-tops for open-air motoring, making this Corvette a fun car that's pretty hard to beat.
Of course, nothing goes with that bright red paint like a black bucket seat interior, and the upholstery in this car looks incredibly fresh and luxurious. The bucket seats are as comfortable as they look with nice covers that have a comfortable, plush feel, there's a set of black door panels with wood applique accents that are in fantastic order, and that cool center console with the integrated climate controls and shifter for the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission underneath is within easy reach for the driver. The gauges appear original and are in great condition showing almost no aging and the brand new 3-spoke steering wheel makes it easy to get comfortable inside the cockpit. R134a air conditioning is always a welcomed option, while the original radio has been replaced by a new JVC AM/FM/CD/AUX head unit that fits neatly in the original slot. The black carpets are plush and barely show any signs of use while the dash is free of cracks and fading – a rare find in a T-top car, but further proof of this vehicle's recent and high-quality restoration.
Power comes from a swapped-in 5.7L V8 TPI fuel-injected motor that's been nestled neatly inside the engine bay, to it's considerably stronger than the original smog motor this '73 was born with. It's also dressed for success with detailed pieces like the finned valve covers, matching intake manifold cover, a performance cone filter, and a set of headers that feed the performance exhaust system below. It's in excellent order for a Corvette you're going to want to drive a lot, and there's simply nothing as reliable (or as fun) as a fuel-injected small block Chevy in a Corvette. Power steering means easy two-finger cruising is on the menu when called for, and a new power brake kit for the 4-wheel discs stops this beauty on a dime whenever you need. It's backed by a heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic driving the stock Corvette rear end, which has highway-friendly gears inside that make this Corvette an easy cruiser. The underside is clean, with some new suspension hardware as well as a fresh dual exhaust system that sounds amazing with a great small-block snarl. The stance is very sporty, and it rolls on a set of always-handsome 17-inch chrome American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wrapped in 255/45/17 blackwall radials.
