This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe is a two-door hardtop that was purchased new from Catalano Motors in Angola, New York and was recently acquired by the selling dealer from the estate of its late previous owner. The car is finished in Colonial Cream and India white, and power is from a dual-carbureted 283ci V8 paired with a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. Service in the last 18 months includes replacement of the fuel tank and lines, brake work, and an oil change. This Bel Air is offered with rear fender skirts, a spare wheel, a warranty booklet, and a Pennsylvania title.
The two-door pillarless Sport Coupe featured styled rear fender trim and tail fins as well as hood darts and bumper bullets. This example repainted in its original color scheme of Colonial Cream with an India Ivory top (816D) under previous ownership, according to the selling dealer. Delamination is shown on the driver’s side of the windshield.
This appears to be a car that was very well maintained over the years with some quality repairs apparent on inner rockers and rear floors. Twin bench seats are upholstered in yellow vinyl with textured black inserts, while black carpets line the floors. The upholstery shows seam repairs and separations as well as discoloration in several areas. A retro-style cassette stereo replaces the stock radio.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a combination speedometer and gear indicator flanked by fuel and coolant temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 84k miles, with total mileage unknown. Gears are selected using a lever on the the steering column, and power steering and assisted braking are equipped.
The 283ci V8 shows a casting number of F822FC and features dual four-barrel Carter carburetors that are said to be period items, but were a later addition.
