Description:
1959 Chevrolet Corvette
1959 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible, this is a Rare 1 Owner Driven Car, that was purchased new in New York at Don Allen Chevrolet a Dealer who specialized in Corvette's by a Dr. and was driven 72k miles by him till the year 2000 when a Collector purchased the car from his estate and had it in his man cave car collection till I purchased the car a few months back. The title shows documented 72,446 actual miles and is Titled in the State of Florida where it has been since 2000. The car had to be gone through as it had been sitting for a long time and I had all the systems serviced and have been driving the car for a few hundred miles. I have to say it drives Unreal! Like a real 72k mile car should, nice and tight with no squeaks or rattles. Motor and gear box are untouched and sound and feel perfect! No smoke on start up or any time and the original Carter carb works flawless after being rebuilt. I had to install some new tires as the tires that were on the car were ok but were old and i did not trust them, so i got the best tires i could from Coker Tire and they are the stock bias looking tires but are radials with original size white walls, they handle and ride killer compared to the bias tires which i will pass on to the new owner as well as the original water pump and fuel pump which had to be replaced. This car is all original and other than the parts I just mentioned and the hoses and radiator cap I believe its the way it was purchased new. The car has a fantastic color combination and is very rare as only 957 cars in 1959 were painted Inca Silver and to make it better it was the 1st year Black interior was offered in a Corvette and only 2062 of the 9670 Corvettes built in 1959 had Black interior. The paint has been touched up in numerous places and looks good from a distance but shows many chips and scratches and blemishes up close, I chose not to paint the car and will let the new owner determine if they want to paint it. The body and shunt lines are great.... doors, trunk and hood line up and shut as new with a nice factory feel. The white soft top is old and in decent shape for its age but also has some patina but again I chose to leave it alone and let the new owner determine if they want to change it as it works and looks fine but is not perfect. The interior is original and again in awesome shape for a 61 year old car, everything works, all gauges and even the optional AM signal seeking Wonder Bar radio! The car has great options for a 59'... heater, radio, parking brake alarm, interior courtesy light, sunshades, windshield washers,(all works), white wall tires and the most important option for me is the 4 Speed transmission... Only 4175 of the 9670 had 4 speeds... the Powerglide automatic or 3 speed manual which was standard made up the balance and to me a 4 speed is the right way to go on a Old Vette and is the most sought out of the bunch. Another interesting fact from the Corvette Black Book where i get my facts from is the "T" shift handle with positive reverse lockout was introduced in 59' models only with the 4 speed transmission. The cars CQ code 283/230hp engine has good power and is amazing how quiet and smooth it is. The car has a 3:70 rear end ratio which makes it peppy with the 4 speed. The exhaust which looks original has a beautiful sound and is quiet, I changed the gaskets and there are no leaks. The emergency brake works great. The original factory side glass is almost perfect and shows no scratches. The factory windshield is also in great condition with only slight wiper marks in a small spot which the average person would never even see but i am very honest and picky and leave no surprises in my description. Notice my feedback is 100%. The chrome is in great shape with the exception of the left front bumper which i show a close up of. The side moldings have a few dings in them and I purchased 2 of them new but decided to leave originals on the car and will pass them on to the new owner if they chose to install them. The car had its original 1959 New York MD license plate on it when I purchased it and I removed for the 1st time since the car was new because its illegal to run the car with 2 different plates on the car but will give it to the new owner as it looks awesome to have it on the car, I took a picture when I got the car before I had to remove it to drive the car and if you look at my pictures 1 has it on. Car comes with 2 sets of keys and its Mint Original Owners Manual not a reprint. I am a dealer and must collect Sales Tax in certain States. Very difficult to find an unmolested 1959 Corvette that has only had 1 owner that drove it its time on the road. $79,500 obo trades? Just took this video so you can hear the 59".
