1964 Chevrolet C-10 Patina Restomod
Despite what the TV shows may say, you can still get a lot of super cool vintage iron for not a lot of money these days. Take this 1964 Chevy C10 Restomod pickup, which features a unique patina finish, a very comfortable interior, and modern fuel-injected LS V8 power, all for a very attractive price. If just having fun and turning heads in a vintage truck is your goal, there aren't many more budget-friendly ways to do it than this cool long bed.The mid-60s Chevy pickups were a styling home-run, and they sold record numbers of them as a result. Today, they have a great old truck vibe without being so archaic that the styling doesn't translate, and nothing proves that point further than the popularity of the 'patina' look that's so often seen on vintage Chevy trucks these days. The faded blue paint has decades of character and wisdom imbedded inside, and the white top (and swapped-in driver's door for that matter) adds contrast and remind us that this was once a shiny two-tone beauty in its day. But it's purely survivor-grade now, and even if some of that patina might be a bit self-inflicted, the truck has all-together look and feel that really works well. Love it or hate it, it certainly attracts attention wherever you park it. No, it's not perfect, in fact it's far from it (the truck comes with spare front fenders in case the rust is a bit too much for your adventurous spirit), but it's nicer than you'd expect at this price, which will barely buy you a 10-year-old work truck in the used car world. Instead, you get loads of character, a genuine wood bed that offers a warm contrast to the Yeoman's blue paint, and even though it may very well be original too, it's still very solid. The grille and both bumpers were white when new to match the cab top and the unique airfoil on the back of the cab of these trucks is just plain cool too. And when all that scared American steel is slammed to the ground on air bags like this 'ol girl, everyone stops and takes a closer look. If you're still reading this, sounds like it got you hooked too...
The black vinyl interior adds quite a bit of refinement to this pickup, and with a new seat cover and a few upgrades, it feels much more modern and attended to inside. On the other hand, it's still rugged and has plenty of patina on all of the metal parts too, and the door panels, dash, and headliner are in stark contrast to the plush comfort of the big bench seat and carpet below. All the original gauges were replaced with white-faced Dolphin units inside a billet panel, and the leather-wrapped billet steering wheel has a dressed-up look with that shiny horn ring in the center and it sits atop a polished tilt column. There's no radio, so an upgrade might be needed there, and although a good portion of the A/C system is already in place, it still needs to be finished and charged. Old school hot rod fans will be happy to see that tall, old-fashioned chrome shift lever that juts out from the transmission tunnel and nearly touches the roof, giving this truck a vintage feel that's a big part of the reason why we love old pickups so much.
The engine is an upgraded 4.8L fuel-injected LS V8 that was swapped in from a later-model Chevy truck, and delivers a healthy wallop of torque to get this long bed pickup rolling without strain. With a Vortec style manifold cover, a few shiny dress-up items, and a beefy fuel injectors, it has a great look under the hood and definitely makes this truck feel quick around town. A newer alternator and big aluminum radiator were installed for further reliability, and with power steering and power front disc brakes, driving this Chevy is a pleasure every time out. Underneath, there's a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers for a great V8 sound and with an upgraded air bag suspension, this is a great-riding pickup even when you're not carrying a load. It's fairly solid underneath, although not detailed for show, and GM made frames better than anyone else in the '60s, so it's ready for another 50 years on the road. Staggered 18-inch front and 20-inch rear steel smoothie wheels look awesome on this slammed classic truck, finishing off the look perfectly.
This patina Chevy covers more than just the basics and is a lot of fun as-is, or could be the foundation of something truly amazing, and at this price, it doesn't cost a lot to start having fun. Call today!
