Go to any car show today and you'd be hard-pressed to imagine that in 1957, 4-door sedans were the most popular body style. It seems like most of the convertibles and hardtops survived just fine, but finding a 1957 Chevrolet 4-door is next to impossible today. And finding one that has been restored to original specifications? Unheard of! So if you're looking for something different, but still stylish and maybe even a little practical, how about this lovely, fully-restored, low-ownership '57 Chevy 210 sedan?

That lustrous, deep red paint you see is called Victory Red, which is one of the better colors you'll ever see on a Tri-5. The cool sail panel on the rear quarters is still there, and as a 1957 210, the side trim mirrors the Bel Air's lovely anodized aluminum piece that's the model's most distinctive feature. What's even cooler is that because this 210 is monochromatic (many were two-tone, and most are repainted that way today), the section between the bright trim is in fact aluminum, not painted the color of the roof. The finish on this sedan is that of a nice driver that shows very well, with solid paint applied over a straight, rust-free body. Finding this solid quality and great rust-free body in a 4-door is fairly rare, as most restorers pick the 2-door models to re-do instead, although we're seeing that trend start to change with clean cars like this. Fit and finish are impressive, and that's largely because of how kindly this '57 has always been treated as a member of the same family for the vast majority of its life. It finally changed hands in 2015, and from 2016-2018 it was restored to what you see today with only 1151 miles on the build and pictures that back-up the claim of how solid, and rust free this 210 has always been. All that chrome and stainless probably cost a fortune to restore, and all of remains in very good condition. Details include beautiful chrome bumpers fore and aft, and those trademark bullet-shaped hood ornaments that probably gave Ralph Nader nightmares. Seriously, I just can't get over how nice this car is, especially for a four-door sedan. It's not perfect, but it's certainly very impressive for a 4-door. And we hope cars like this continue the trend, we can't forget our 4-door ancestors!

Inside this 210 sports a correct two-tone red and black interior that has been restored using correct fabrics and patterns. The 210 four-door sedan offered six-passenger comfort with a modicum of style that extended throughout the entire lineup, and it's every bit as luxurious and stylish as its hardtop brothers. Ornate door panels mirror the upholstery on the seats, plush black carpets insulate the cabin nicely, the red headliner up top is firm and taught, and the lovely Chevy dashboard has been fully restored with fresh paint and restored metal and chrome. Factory gauges were replaced inside their original pods with Dakota Digital units, including the separate pods at the flanks of the speedometer and above that ribbon of bright metal trim. There's also a retro-style AM/FM/AUX radio (along with a separate Pioneer head unit under the glove box), and a full R134a A/C system that blows hard and cold. The trunk offers a reproduction rubber mat, full-sized spare, and plenty of room to accommodate any travel plans.

Thanks to generations of development, a modern 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 crate motor will slip right between the 210's fenders and deliver roughly twice the horsepower of the original 283. The small block sports an Edelbrock intake and a Holley 4-barrel carb, plus chrome Chevrolet valve covers and a bright chrome air cleaner. Kept cool thanks to a big aluminum radiator up front and dressed to show-off, this motor runs superbly and will be easy to maintain for years to come without so much as a second thought, and it's a ton of fun to drive too. Stock manifolds and stock headers (wrapped to control heat) feed a Flowmaster dual exhaust system, so it's got a great soundtrack to go with its understated look and the 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission was borrowed from an '86 Suburban and then fully rebuilt, and now ensures that this 4-door never gets annoying on the highway. Underneath, it's fairly clean and very solid with a bunch of new parts, including the aforementioned exhaust system, a new gas tank, and recent shocks. And Tri-5 Chevy is complete without a set of steelies with correct Bowtie hubcaps and 205/75/14 Hankook whitewall radials.
