1972 Monte Carlo Custom. 2 owner car from California. This is a very special car in terms of both originality, documentation, and prominence. This is a true Custom. In 1972 Chevrolet replaced the (SS) model with a Custom. This car was bought new 10/13/71 by So Cal racing legend Andy Porterfield (http://autoweek.com/article/grand-am/andy-porterfield-racing-pioneer-and-scca-champion-dead-80) and was likely a special order because it contained the following custom equipment:
-Belt moldings, special steering wheel, power disc/drum brakes, auxiliary lighting, special sound proofing, sport suspension, 15x 7 wheels, G70 x 15 Tires.
Other options ordered on this car include:
power windows, center console, 4-season air conditioning, automatic level control, positraction rear axle, heavy duty battery, special instrumentation (tachometer, amperage gauge and engine temperature gauge), and heavy duty radiator.
It has all original GM Sheet Metal. Car had no rust (was a dry California car) before the work took place. Matching numbers 350 engine and th350 trans.Car frame was blasted, cleaned, prep, rust sealed and top coated with gloss black chassis paint. The car has 80k original miles. The engine was completely rebuilt to the following specs.
Engine/Trans: 358ci, .040 hyper pistons, comp .268 cam k-kit, Mr. Gasket coated headers, 2.5 in dual exhaust with turbo mufflers, one piece heavy duty oil pan gasket. New seals in the trans and heavy duty pan gasket.
Rear Axle: numbers matching 12 bolt posi .373 factory gears.
Lighting- Dapper Lighting (275) Projector headlights.
Exterior and Paint- brand new inner fenders, weatherstripping, Front lip spoiler, custom grille. Paint has had one respray done in the early 2000’s base clear Antique white, driver quality, has wear through marks, some imperfections (dents, scratches). The body is how I received it from Cali. I had it clay barred and buffed.
Front Suspension & Brakes- 2 inch drop spindles, new coil springs, control arms rebuilt with energy suspension bushings & new ball joints, new sway bar endlinks, new tie rod ends, drilled/slotted rotors, new calipers, new hoses
Rear Suspension & Brakes- hotchkiss 2 inch lowering springs, energy suspension bushings in the trailing arms, rear brakes rebuilt, new axle seals
Interior- excellent condition, stock with Pro Car 90 Vintage Seats, new carpet w/ jute padding, new firewall pad, brand new heater and A/C cores, lines, and valves. Original seats will come with sale, driver needs reupholstered.
Power coated parts- Upper and lower control arms, front sway bar, radiator panel, hood hinges, rear trailing arms and rear sway bar, hood latch, trans crossmember, wheels, front drive assembly,
Wheels/Tires- Coys Satin Black centers with machined lip. Front-18x8/ Rear 20x10 Rear-275/40/20 Tires

The car runs and drives well, the power windows, lights, signals, horn, and wipers all work properly. The car is sold along with the original window sticker, warranty manual, and original owners manual and real clean California "pink slip" title. Clean Title in hand.
