Description:
1969 Chevrolet Camaro
Some cars can get by on looks alone, but this awesome 1969 Chevrolet Camaro coupe ably demonstrates that there's often substance under the style. Slick Hugger Orange paint over Orange Houndstooth set on a killer raked stance, this one hits all the right visual notes, and with a potent small block 350 V8 under the hood and a disc brake at every corner, well, it's not just handsome, but a performance piece as well.Looking like a heavyweight fighter in a tuxedo, this F-body is all dressed up with an aggressive grille, chin spoiler, and ducktail spoiler out back. Wearing its factory correct Hugger Orange paint and white SS-style stripes, people will definitely sit up and take notice every time this predator rolls in. You can see how smooth and flat the bodywork is in our photos; take note of how clear the reflections are, and how slick those SS-style stripes look up against the orange, the car takes on a very killer vintage look indeed. Gaps are good, too, so you won't worry about hurting that lovely paint when you slam the hood, and the door shut nicely with a solid THUD. Of course, there's a cowl-induction hood to give it the right attitude, Corvette side mirrors were added for better visibility, and all the chrome has been refinished or polished, so it glitters against the paint like jewelry. This is dialed-in F-body done right.
Inside, the interior features front bucket seats and a rear bench seat wrapped in beautiful Orange Houndstooth, and if you need evidence that GM interior stylists were hitting on all eight cylinders in 1969, you need look no further than this gorgeous Camaro. The bright seat covers duplicate the factory patterns, and the other stuff like the black door panels and plush carpets are relatively new, too. You'll also note an interesting combination of features in this one, including a factory two-spoke wheel with a vinyl wrap, a horseshoe shifter inside the middle console, joined by a quartet of white-face Autometer gauges just ahead of it. There's also a great-sounding retro-style digital stereo in the factory dash slot, and it pumps tunes through the tweeters on the window panel and 6x9 speakers in the package tray. There's also a SuperPro tachometer strapped to the steering wheel, and the factory gauges just behind it are all in place and working as they should. Cold R134a A/C is a fantastic option to have year-round, but when you don't have the need for manufactured air, power windows are also an option in this Camaro. The trunk is very clean and features a correct reproduction plaid mat and full size spare tire, along with enough room for all your car show goodies.
The engine is a Goodwrench crate 350 cubic inch V8 detailed to dazzle and covered in bright chrome and other polished trim. Maintained well and running great, it includes finned valve covers and chrome open element air cleaner, as well as a newer alternator and polished A/C compressor. The engine fires right up and provides plenty of power, and is fed by an Edelbrock intake and Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and an HEI ignition that lights it all up. Actually, the list of parts is extensive so we can't cover them all, but suffice to say that this sucker is full of the good stuff. The transmission is a crisp-shifting TH400 3-speed automatic feeding a rugged 10-bolt rear end. Long-tube chrome headers feed an X-pipe exhaust with dual Pype mufflers to give it the most spectacular baritone voice this side of the Metropolitan Opera house and you can see that virtually everything under the car has been freshened. There's newer upper and lower control arms, shocks and coils, CalTrac traction bars and a Hotchkis sway bar in the rear, and power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes ensure an incredible driving experience. Slick 5-spoke REV wheels wear staggered 225/45/17 front and 295/40/18 rear performance radials that finish the look.
