1972 Chevrolet Chevelle

1972 CHEVELLE SUPER SPORT 454 LS5 TEXAS BARN FIND, NUMBER'S MATCHING. A VERY DESIRABLE BLACK ON BLACK CAR!
This is a real 454 SS that is number's matching. The W in the VIN indicates 454 and all 454 Chevelles were Super Sports. The engine turns freely, and looks like it was rebuilt once and painted black. It is stock bore and the cylinders are very smooth except for # 3 and #8 where the valves were open and moisture got in. A .030 over rebuild should clean it up. #5 piston looks to have been replaced, perhaps that's the reason for the rebuild. It doesn't look like many miles were put on it. A very close visual inspection doesn't show any cracks in the block. The turbo 400 trans is also #'s matching with the VIN stamped on it.
The car came from Texas just south of Dallas. The body has all original panels except for the hood which was robbed from the car years ago. The car came with a Cowl induction hood from the factory. No SS stripes, solid black with black interior from the factory. Being 48 years old and never being repaired or restored, it has survived well. Lower portions of the floor have some rust. The trunk is pretty solid with a little rust here and there. Bottom of doors, rockers and frame are solid. The underside has surface rust from being parked on the farm and in a barn with a dirt floor for years. I replaced driver's fender with a rust free original that I purchased from a swap meet, the original is included. I have the original grill, but someone grabbed and pulled the SS emblem off and broke it. I replaced it with my factory SS grill and emblem off my W code convertible. There is a little rust in the upper windshield channel. Obviously thereare dents and the R. quarter panel and outer wheelhouse will need to be replaced, trunk drops are solid. At least you can see what you are buying, nothing butchered and hidden with filler and covered with layers of old paint.
The interior has the factory buckets and console. The dash is obviously from another car and is just bolted in, nothing is hooked up. I believe the original Tach and gauge dash was robbed along with the carb, air cleaner, cowl hood, and grill SS emblem. This is a factory A/C, PS, Power disc brake car.
The car comes with a good Texas title. Please call with your questions. Thanks, Mike 479-228-4304
