1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

A "restomod" job is defined as a vehicle that has been put back together with the addition of new modern or aftermarket parts that were not on the vehicle when it came from the factory. ... Cars that are super-rare or valuable are usually worth the most when in they are in "restored" condition.

For consignment a car that was turning heads before it even hit the showroom floor, this '57 Bel Air has benefitted from a frame-off restoration, and resto-modding with only the best materials used. Custom leather for the interior, custom paint for the exterior, and some eye candy for under the hood, it's better than the last year for the Tri Five that Chevrolet pumped out from the factory...have a look.

Exterior
A thorough soda blasting was performed on the exterior shell, then the talent of Mark Giambalvo from Creative Rod and Custom in beautiful downtown Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania went to work with a first spray of cinder red for the base then a topcoat of House of Kolors Candy Apple Red, and folks, it is delicious! A few of many highlights of noteworthy mention are the cowl induction hood, mini tubbing on the rear by Taylor Built Fabrication to make room for the 29x12.50/15 Hoosiers wrapping 15 inch highly polished Torque Thrusts with center spinners on the rear, and 25x7.5 x15's on the front. New glass from Vintage Glass, and Eddie Motorsports custom hinges for the hood and trunk. A freshly picked example red delicious candy apple.

Interior
The hits just keep on coming with the interior of REAL Austrian leather in Snow White color. Plenty of interesting stitching abounds inside on the front split bench, and rear bench, which don't have a mark on them. These have Juliano's seatbelts in maroon installed, and just for giggles an engraved 57 on the buckles. Custom dash trim and gauges have taken the original design to the next level, and Lokar door and window handles, floor pedals, and shifter pepper the interior. All this wonderful menagerie of textures and finishes floats in a sea of perfect loop pile carpet, also in maroon. Vintage air conditioning blows cold, and a Torque Thrust 3 blade steering wheel in white perches on and Ididit tilt steering column and the fronts the custom dash. Crank up the custom 10-disc custom sound system, and just like Adam and Eve, I'm tempted to partake in this forbidden fruit.

Drivetrain
A seldom seen, totally chromed and polished engine in the form of a 383 Stroker topped with Fast Burn aluminum heads, and a 650 CFM Edelbrock carburetor, and kids we are putting out 425hp. A chromed billet serpentine belt system, custom oversized radiator with twin electric fans and a custom firewall contain this beast. Patriot stainless steel headers complete with Jet Hot coating, snarl past a 350 Turbo Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission, and run past a Ford 9-inch 3.70 rear. This chromed piece of mechanical jewelry is the core of this car.

Undercarriage
Taking the body off one can meticulously repair and powder coat the frame prior to putting the body back on, and that's exactly what was done. Then a TCI 4 link stainless suspension and QAI coil-overs and sway bar in front, and Carrera coil- overs on the rear, and we have a smooth ride. Maval rack and pinion power steering is on, as are Wilwood power disc brakes all around.

Drive-Ability
With the power of the custom mill, one can truly peel out if you want to, but in the interest of total preservation, we pushed our boot in very carefully. The car responded with a great rumble and roared around our test area with ease. Power steering and brakes makes driving this 57 a breeze. I'm in Red Love.

One can go through the Classic Auto Mall and see lots of good stuff, but this one is truly a car I would personally hand pick. Really well done, close to perfect, and a fine example of the fruit of serious labor on the restoration.
