We are a small Corvette dealer in Southwest Missouri that specializes in nice low mileage C3s in good color combinations. We go through the cars and correct any issues that do not work and bring these cars to the next level. Our cars have nice paint and interior and then we go through and do a cosmetic detail to them including the engine compartment and chassis. We do get the air conditioning working and spend whatever it takes to do so. This particular 1979 we have spent over $1,000 just recently to have the a/c corrected and working and receipts are included with the sale to show you just what was all done and spent on the car. This 1979 Corvette is a nice one. We acquired it locally from an 83 year old man that no longer could drive the vehicle. It has always been garaged and he owned the car for just a few years. When we purchased the car it had already had a nice older paint job with a new interior. What we did was have the paint buffed and polished to bring out the nice shine it has now. The paint is show quality and could easily cost you $7,000 to $10,000 in today's prices of paint jobs to duplicate. We did replace the emblems and tail light lenses and refinished the rear window trim. Refinished the rocker moldings and installed new hardware, new parking grill assemblies, correct license plate hardware, new power antenna assembly, and the list goes on. All of the fine details have been done to this Corvette to make it stand alone from other ones. Those small details do add up to thousands of dollars if you ever have done one. The car needed our attention to get it to this level. We removed the stock aluminum wheels that had curb markings on them and replaced with all new aluminum wheels from Corvette America. We also replaced all of the lug bolts and center caps as well. This sure does give these models a nice fresh look when these new wheels are on the car. The tires are newer and all match in excellent shape with plenty of tread life. These tires are Mastercraft Avenger GTs, raised white lettered, sizes P225/70R15. They are all balanced out smoothly and the car goes down the road with no shake. The overall body fit is excellent for this model year. From what we have seen and being over the car, I don't believe it has had any panels replaced or repaired. All bonding strips are intact and no heavy undercoating in the fender wells. No stress cracks coming through as you will see in many of you have looked at some. The car shows only 57,495 miles and when you drive it there is no doubting the mileage. It does go down the road straight and performs well. Hood, doors, headlights and t-tops all fit like factory with no gaps and or noticeable flaws.
INTERIOR:The interior of this 1979 is very nice. The seats have been redone in all leather with new foam, all new carpeting and floor mats, new center console and restored rear compartment lids where the battery and jack are located. The car does have the original door panels and dash assembly in nice condition. All gauges are original and function with the exception of the clock. The radio is about the only non-looking original part and is a nice aftermarket Alpine CD player with all new speakers. It does have a nice sound once you are in the car. The leather wrapped steering wheel is also original and we removed it and redyed the wheel to give it that nice fresh new look. All gauge lenses are excellent as well. We did replace the door sill plates, some new weatherstrips as all were not needing replaced, new turn signal lever with the cruise control switch as these model years tend to get floppy from force when using them. This is not a simple fix. You not only need to replace the lever and switch, but the pivot arm inside the column will need replaced otherwise this will not correct the issue. We have fixed several of these, mostly on 79 models as this was a weak point. This one now is fixed properly and works including the cruise like it should. This alone was over a $500 fix. Again I cannot stress enough as many of these cars you find for sale maybe cheaper, but all will need these things corrected and can be costly if you do not have someone fixing them that doesn't know what they are doing. We also replaced the heater core and hoses so the car will have heat in the winter months if you desired to drive it.The interior on this Corvette is a # 2 condition. The overall car is really a 2+ with the details that have been done to it.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND CHASSIS:
The engine compartment and engine bay have been detailed more to original looking, without overdoing. We did refinish the valve covers and intake manifold along with the oil pan. We did have the original water pump rebuilt and replaced the thermostat and fittings. Also the belts were replaced and as I mentioned before, the air conditioning does work and has been gone through with a new compressor and converted to R134. We did replace the spark plugs as the original ones were still intact! We did save them and are included with the sale. The radiator had been removed and cleaned previously, and has had the coolant changed. Radiator hoses have also been replaced. We did service the car with Lucas Hot Rod & Classic Car Oil W/High Zinc. The car starts up and idles like it should. It does have plenty of power to cruise down the road. The transmission has also been serviced with a new shifter seal which is common on these models. The oil pressure sender was also replaced at that time. We also replaced the rear portion of the exhaust system from the catalytic converter back. This was purchased from Corvette Central and is about the closest thing you can get that looks factory stock and original. The shocks were cleaned up along with the rear spring and the frame was repainted. The frame is excellent with no rust or heavy pitting as this has been in Missouri and out of the elements its entire life. We did remove the front backing plates on the brakes and replaced them, also repacking the front wheel bearings, cleaned up the tie rod ends and refinished several of the parts underneath. It is not perfect, but nice and presentable if you were to look underneath. No undercoating covering up anything either. The brake calipers have been replaced prior to when we purchased the vehicle. The original spare tire compartment is nice and the original spare tire and wheel are still intact. Original jack and lug wrench are still behind the seat in the storage compartment. Even the t-top storage bags are still there. All of the carpeting was nicely installed when replaced.Another item replaced is the power steering control valve and hoses. An alignment has been done to the car after we did all of those things.Receipts on what was done and spent on this Corvette are included in a three ring binder that goes with the sale of this Corvette.
Included with this Corvette is the original build sheet, removed by us, original dealer invoice dated 09/19/1978,reproduction window sticker made up by the original invoice, original dealer sales brochure, owners manual, t-top storage bags, original jack, lug wrench with spare tire and wheel, previous owner name and numbers, InstaVin Vehicle History Report, and several receipts of what was spent and done to this Corvette in the past 6 months. All of these documents are put into a three ring binder and included with the sale.
This Corvette can be driven or shown and all lights, horn, a/c, heat, wipers, headlights, gauges all work on this car. Even the cruise control does still function. Door buzzer still works and dash lights operate. A nice example of a 1979 Corvette that does not need anything that we are aware of. Great entry level investment C3 that does not break your pocket book. These models are increasing in value and will continue to do so as the previous C2 generation Corvettes are much, much higher in price.

OTHER KEY HIGHLIGHTS TO THE 1979 MODEL YEAR:New "High Back" seat style introduced in the 1978 pace car replicas was made standard equipment in 1979. Extensive use of plastic in the frame structure resulted in weight reduction of about twelve pounds per seat. The new seats had better side bolster support, and the backs folded at a higher point to permit easier rear storage access. Driver and passenger seat tracks were redesigned for an additional inch of forward travel.Output of both the base L-48 and optional L-82 engines increased by 5hp due to a new "open flow" muffler design. Also adding the L82's low restriction, dual-snorkel air intake to the base engine added another 5hp.Tungsten-halogen headlight beams were phased into 1979 production early in the production year for increased visibility. These replaced only the high-beam units. The 1979 fuel filler pipe was redesigned to make it more difficult to modify for leaded-fuel access. The front and rear spoilers developed as part of the 1978 pace car package became 1979 options. They were functional, decreasing drag by about 15% and increasing fuel economy by about half-mile per gallon. The ZX2 convenience group option that this Corvette has included dome and courtesy light delay, headlight warning buzzer, underhood light, low fuel warning light, floor mats, intermittent wipers, and right side visor mirror. This was a $94.00 option in 1979.
