1951 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Bel Air
For sale, our beautiful 1951 Chevy Bel Air hard top deluxe. We bought this car from a dealer in Minnesota about a year ago and he brought it up from Kentucky. It was built in Georgia but was in Kentucky most it's life. I've owned a lot of old Chevy's in my time and have sold most of them on ebay over the last 20 years. This is one of the nicest one's I've owned or have seen and I've had some nice ones. Below is what I've done or have had done since I've owned it: Replaced distributer cap, new points and condenser, compression is 140/145 on all cylinders, new belt, repaired emergency brake, changed oil. It had some oil leaks when I got it so replaced the gasket on the valve cover and the side of the block, the piston gasket, has new air cleaner. I've driven it about 260 miles, town driving, starting & stopping during the last year. It runs really good, good power, starts fast. Still has an oil leak, maybe the rear main or oil pan gasket, don't know. Recently the radiator started leaking from the top but it doesn't get hot and has never got hot and I've driven it probably 50-60 miles since the leak with no problem. The car was restored probably 8-10 years ago. Was told it has lacquer paint job that is nice and shiny though it does have a few chips around the doors and a couple of blisters. Love the colors, brown over yellow, very classy looking. All the chrome has either been re-chromed or replaced. Note the front bumper wraps. Looks like all the stainless inside and out have been polished or replaced. There is a couple of small little dents in the stainless and on the stainless on the visor. The chrome around the side windows have some blistering that I took chrome polish to but it's not bad. I believe the front window has been replaced. The back side window has some scratches. The windows roll up and down. Though the tires look like new they are older tires. Never had to put air in them. The interior is very nice and at some point redone with new headliner, new carpeting, new upholstery. Does have a couple of scratches in the brown trim. The upholstery is very nice though the back seat behind the driver has a couple of little tears from someone putting something back there we believe. The two lights in the back of the car don't work, don't know if they just need a bulb or what. All rubbers look like new: hood, trunk, doors. Trunk is clean and has been redone. Dash is in almost mint condition, butterfly steering wheel is nice, horn button is under the dash, speedometer and gages looks like they were replaced when restored. All gages except gas work, speedometer, odometer work. All lights work except the 2 by the back seat. Signals and flashers work. Cigarette lighter works, radio is missing, heater looks like it's hooked up but we never tried it to see if it works or not. Car is 12 volt and has alternator and electric windshield wipers. Has Fenton manifold and dual exhaust. Brakes are really good and doesn't pull, stays on the road. 3 speed shifts really good. Mechanic thinks the motor was rebuilt not too long ago but we don't know when it was rebuilt. I took a magnet to the car and it seems to be all metal. Underneath looks good, the floor pans look good. In one of the photos you'll see 3 rust holes on a bracket but they don't go thru to anything. Bottom/underneath the doors look good. Steering is tight. When you step on the gas, has good get up and go. The doors shut OK but you have to shut them hard. They might need to be adjusted or it might be because of the newer rubbers. When I got the car the door lock key didn't work in either door, don't know if the problem is the lock or if I got the wrong key (the key has since been lost). The doors do lock but don't have key to unlock. The ignition doesn't require a key to turn it. You can start car by turning the ignition by hand. Ignition key was also lost. We do have key to trunk and glove box. Super nice Chevy that is not lowered but is in nice original condition with proper upgrades. The person who restored this car had to have spent a lot of money doing it. If you went to restore this car now days, it would cost you more than what I'm asking. With retirement right around the corner and a bad left foot to use on the clutch, it's time to sell her. Car is in Redlands, So Calif. Buyer is responsible for picking it up. Sold as is, where is. To protect the buyer, must buy thru ebay and must pay $500 non refundable deposit via Paypal the balance to be paid via bank wire transfer.
