1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

As the mid-'60s arrived, Chevy launched its second generation of Corvettes, and while doing so it seemed a top priority to put as much distance as possible behind their prized American sports car and the competition, as they equipped it with so much distinctive style and performance capabilities that were well ahead of its time. Very tastefully configured, this 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is a great example of just how effective Chevy's planning and execution were. Corvettes... had been attracting their fair share of attention for a while before this one debuted, but Chevy really ratcheted things up a few notches during this era. This '65 benefits from a far stronger foundation than those found on previous generations, and that structural support has served it well -just look how vital, well-aligned and road ready this droptop is. Up front, the signature hidden headlights - one of several of the Corvette's defining style features - sit flush in their lowered position and raise into position with no issues. The light blue exterior shade affords it an authentic appearance - the color is very close to the Nassau Blue color draped over many representatives of the model in the mid-'60s. The paint provides plenty of curb appeal, and a detailing session at the hands of a professional will elevate things even further. Should you encounter unfavorable weather while behind the wheel of this open-air classic, the accompanying canvas convertible top is in fine shape and seals nice and tight to keep the elements from intruding. Inspired, driver-centric interiors were another hallmark of the 'Vettes of this era, and the one on display here is no exception. The blue vinyl surfaces of the pair of low-backed bucket seats seem unusually fresh as they loom over the contrasting dark carpet lining the floor, blending perfectly with the door panels to each side. Between them, the center console appears just as it did when this Chevy first rumbled off the assembly line. Up front in the aeronautically inspired instrument cluster, the original gauges are still in place and readable and the decorative panel on the passenger side is nice and clean. The center of the dash is still sporting its fully functional original analog clock and, unlike so many of its counterparts, it's still getting the job done. In back, the trunk area has been brought to top form, with clean, contoured carpeting in place. A 327 cubic inch V8, without a doubt Chevy's best known vintage small block, resides in the center of a clean engine compartment still sporting a stock configuration, looking sharp with its chrome air cleaner and valve covers and surrounded by what appear to be recently painted inner fenders and firewall. Everything's orderly inside - there are no wires out of place - and you can see that the relatively spacious bay affords plenty of working room around the signature ram-horn exhaust manifolds. The engine is in good form, fed by a 4-barrel carb and emitting a nice deep exhaust note out of its aftermarket dual exhaust while teaming with a 4-speed manual transmission to provide the "hands on" driving experience befitting a model so heralded for its performance. Front disc brakes help bring fade resistant stops as this classic of classics cruises on its set of 15" stock Corvette aluminum wheels with knockoff centers. A peek below reveals a supremely clean undercarriage - few cars, regardless of age, can stack up with this one in this category. This 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible represents a sterling example of one of the most beloved American cars ever to roll off an assembly line in its captivating open-air form. Call today!
