This radical shop truck combines daily driver reliability and power with killer looks and a style all its own! A 2004 Chevy Colorado frame was cleaned, de-tabbed, and finished out with new shocks, control arms, springs, and other goodies to be the base of this build. Stock suspension means it retains a fantastic modern ride, with agile handling and none of the BS associated with air bags and backyard build geometry. Once the frame was ready, a complete powertrain from a 2006 Chevy Avalanche with just 94k miles was installed after being cleaned, refurbished, and made good as new again. The LM7 5.3 Vortec motor was rebuilt as a stock engine with 295hp and 330 ft pounds of torque. It received new seals, gaskets, water pump, aluminum performance radiator, injectors, coils, plugs and more. The PCM and stand-alone harness were installed, along with a complete 14 circuit Kwik Wire modern cartridge wiring system. The 4L60E automatic overdrive transmission was refurbished as well, and mated to the rebuilt rear end with 3.42 gearing to let you have optimal off the line power and exceptional highway cruising ability too. Body drop sets it just right over the frame, and retains factory ride and handling, while keeping that slammed look going 24/7. Clearance is quite good, and other than watching when pulling up a large grade while turning, you can cruise like you're in a modern truck without worry. Custom bed wood with raised floor looks awesome and fits the truck perfectly. Relocated poly fuel cell gets filled from the bed, freeing up more room in the cab for larger folks. Tailgate has custom flip latches that are basically hidden, but work like a dream. Custom roll pan in the back looks great. The body is solid, but it does it have filler in spots to smooth it out, and isn't a $75,000 restoration. A kitchen magnet hugs practically every inch of the body like a Grandma hugs a kid, and it was sprayed in Satin Gray with a flat tint coat to give it a little sheen without making it glossy. Yes, the paint has a few little scuffs and marks from being driven 3k miles, but it really just adds to the character of the truck, and could easily be touched up if you wanted to. Glass is all great, with no chips or cracks, and the weather stripping, door seals, window felts, regulators, and latches are like new as well. Custom tail lights were hand made for this truck out of motorcycle pistons, and they look and work perfect! Head lights are modern HALO ring units that light up the night without issue. All of the lights work as they should, including the parking lamps and signals. Stance is helped along by a new set of 22x9 steel wheels with 265/30 tires that keep the ride soft, and add some handling prowess to the truck too. Interior is clean and neat, and custom seat is super comfortable and cut down low and lean to provide the most interior room possible. Door panels and seats are finished in Black and Gray leather, and there are modern seat belts in place for three people. Dash was fitted with a new Intellitronix Digital Dash in a stock style housing. It looks and works perfectly, and has been carefully calibrated to monitor all vitals. Speedometer is dead-on accurate with GPS too. A tilt column was fit to the truck and topped with a refurbished stock wheel. The shift linkage harkens back to the "3-on-the-tree" this truck was probably born with, but works perfectly to select gears for the 4L60E auto trans. PCM and fuse box are hidden under the dash with a easy-access port. Wiper linkage is intact, as is the switch, but it would need a motor to function. Right now, the full ceramic coating on the windshield lets water just blow off at any speed. Engine bay is super sano thanks to custom made inner fenders, firewall, and engine cover. Everything under the hood is monochromatic too, giving it a clean and modern look. It starts with the turn of the key, idles perfectly, and is ready to roll whenever you are. How does it drive and perform? Go find a 2006 Avalanche and take it for a spin. That's how. No pulling, no wander, no slop from the modern power steering system, and no grabbing or chatter from the modern power disc/drum brakes either. It cruises along at 90mph like a modern truck, and has plenty of power to do shenanigans if that's your thing. NEVER runs hot, hasn't leaked a single drop of anything, and was recently serviced to be ready for the next owner. Oh, and you can have it serviced ANYWHERE that would do an oil change on a 2006 Avalanche. Parts for the chassis, suspension, and powertrain are plentiful and cheap, and can be had anywhere that sells parts near you. Easy to operate, easy to service, easy to maintain, and easy on the eyes too. The perfect combination for a daily driver or just a fun weekend toy. It is proven and reliable, and has been a fail-safe semi-daily driver for the prior owner for a year and just over 3k miles. I would not hesitate to cruise it anywhere.
