1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS-454
Documented by GM of Canada as a real SS-454. 1 of 10 with rear shoulder belts. This SS is loaded, really loaded with options. EXTERIOR: Wow, the body is actually arrow straight in this car. I just walked around looking down both sides and it is literally like looking at a mirror. There's no ripples, no rust, no damage at all that I see. The paint is a beautiful deep burgundy metallic polished out to a glass finish. Upfront the... bumper, headlight bezels, grill and bumper guards look like new. It has a cowl induction hood, the windshield has been replaced, vinyl top is in very good shape. The lower rocker moldings are straight and shiney. The back bumper looks new. The wheels are 15 inch aluminum Weld Racing wheels, in back it has screw in studs. Door jambs are painted real slick, weatherstrip looks new. It is loaded with factory features- tilt, power windows, seat and locks, rear defog and more. Upgrades include gauge cluster under the dash, tachometer on the pillar and a stereo. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Believed to have the original 454 engine. The engine code pad was decked during rebuild, casting numbers on the back look correct. Has performance build with upgrades. It has a high-rise Edelbrock intake with a big dual feed Holley carb with braided lines Areo couplings and a fuel regulator. Also has an MSD ignition system and a set of headers. Has external vacuum pump because of the perf cam. The alternator had been upgraded. The motor runs strong! TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Has a real solid trunk. A full 1/4 panel was installed on the driver side. There's a subwoofer and an amp for the stereo. Trunk light works, bottom of the trunk lid and jamb are painted real slick. Has new weatherstrip. UNDERSIDE: Has high torque starter, turbo 400 auto, aluminum driveshaft with safety loop. In back it has it's original 12 bolt rear end with 3.31 posi gears. Has custom fuel delivery system. A real fat Flowmaster exhaust system sounds great. Has disc brakes in front, e-brake assembly is complete. Floors are solid. An SS-454 is very rare. They are difficult to authenticate, this one was sold in Canada so there are records that prove without a doubt it is real. Now factor in all the options, this is an extremely rare car.
