1971 Chevrolet Other Pickups
I've owned this vehicle since the mid 80s. Here's a long story to give you the history of it. It was my primary transportation until 1988 at which time I bought a sports car to drive primarily but I hung on to it. I thought I'd eventually hand it off to a son when they turned 16 but my oldest boys never wanted it. But before i had a wife and kids I pulled the engine and tore it down and rebuilt it. This was 1989. I had the block dipped, bored 50 over, heads were exchanged for remanned set, went back with an Edelbrock high performance cam. Although that was 30 years ago I am certain there is less than 5000 miles on that rebuilt engine. From the time I rebuilt it all through the time I'd run it at least one or two times a years it ran awesome and never used any oil between changes. I moved often chasing oilfield work, Wy, CO, NM and moved it to wherever i was living but rarely drove it. I got tired of the logistics of moving it from place to place and decided to store it on my dad's farm in IL in 2004. It was parked inside the shed you can see in the back ground of the photos in which the truck is all together. Those photos were taken then. When my dad's farm sold 10 years later (2014) it had to be moved to my brother's farm. I just put a battery in it poured some gas in the tank and a splash in the carb and it fired right up. In 2017 I a third son about to reach driving age that wanted it so we pulled it to Magnolia Tx on a dolly where I planned to restore the body. Again it fired right up and drove under its own power onto the car dolly. I did notice that it smokes out both banks now and suspect it needs a new set of rings. When I got it to Texas it started up right away again but then I think it sucked up some crap that messed up the carburetor. After trying to rectify the problem I finally gave up and bought a brand new Holly 650 carburetor and the intake to fit it. Cleaned the tank and filled it with non alcohol gas too. That was about Sept of 2018. Since I got this plan to restore it I have lost my job twice. I don't have a good facility to do it in and I can't afford to use my savings I might need for a rainy day. Reluctantly I decided to sell it. Besides the new carb it also has brand new drums and and brake pads on the rear end. I pulled them off when my son and I sand blasted and painted the rear part of the frame and went back with new. Put new brake line from the cab back too. Everything you see is for sale. The truck, the bed, the gooseneck trailer the bed is on. I replaced the original pine planks with new oak planks in Spring of 2018. I blasted and painted it too but never did get around to wiring the lights up again. Everything is being sold as is in a group for $8000 flat. For a buck a mile I will hook on to the trailer and drive it to your destination. I live in Western Oklahoma.Vehicle Details:
