NOTE:Rebuilding and or restoring old cars is not for the fainthearted. Most home or commercial garages have little space devoted to crying rooms and or quiet places. It takes a lot of patience and endurance to restore a 53-year-old 1976 Corvette anything. The individual must be a jack of all trades with a thirst to research and find parts no longer in production. In some case, the individual must replicate the part from a drawing, schematic, or an old factory build manual. So far I have been fortunate that most of the parts are available through reputable businesses as can be seen from the restoration account ledger I will post to this insertion. If you have restored old cars, then you will understand what I am about to comment. You start off thinking that all you have to do is find an old car in fair shape and with your magical touch in a few weeks you can turn out a fantastic piece of work. Well, that was six years ago, and I still do not have it back together. I have mostly new parts in every nook and cranny of my garage and inside the car itself. Today in getting ready to offer the car for sale, I added up all of the new parts costs and outside labor cost associated with the restoration. I was astounded at the amount being almost 18,000 dollars. I love this car, but the necessity of having to move into smaller digs out of state leaves me no choice but to put it up for sale. Besides the having to move, my son says Dad what does a 73-year-old retired school teacher need with a hot Stingray. As I stated earlier, most of the parts research has taken place. New parts are on hand to bring this beautiful beast back to a cherished ride. Now about the car, the engine was taken back to Oklahoma and Folks machine in Norman, OK did the block job. Summit Racing got a big chunk of money for the engine kit, pistons, and other items. Ecklers Corvette got another chunk of money for many parts as did Big City Corvettes, Willcox Corvettes, Corvette Mods, Corvette Central, Eastwood Paints, Rock Auto, O'Reilly Auto Parts. Also, a very faithful economic minded mechanic working hours after his real job as a service manager for a local Ford Dealership. The car is presumably ready to be put back together as it has been garaged for the past six years. It is now sitting under a tarp on my car trailer to be hauled to whoever buys the project. For the buyer of this project, I will with acceptable enumeration deliver the car to the buyers choice as long as it is inside North America. The car is located in a cooler area of Central Arizona. I have included photo's of the car taken the week before the restoration project started in earnest.Vehicle Details:
