1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS6

This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS underwent a nut and bolt restoration earlier this year. And while that will already make get your enthusiast heart soaring, what will really get your muscle car blood pumping is all the evidence of a true LS6 car. So you're not just going to love this for its amazing quality, but its pedigree, too. People may think you did a restoration with a modern color. After all, the Shadow Gray with black SS... stripes is that perfect dark-on-dark attitude that so many new muscle machines are going for today. And the black vinyl roof perfectly complements it all. But this coupe is not a modern interpretation, it was born this way! The reason why everything looks so fresh is because the full frame-off restoration was only completed only this year, and there is less than 275 miles on the car since then. It's a serious investment in quality that means exceptional sheetmetal â€" so you get to fully enjoy the fastback profile, form-fitting chrome bumpers, and well-creased fenders. And of course, we love all the sporty details like the hood pins, all the SS badging, and the 14-inch SS Mag-style wheels. And yes, that's a true cowl induction hood! As you look over the whole vehicle, you're going to notice that this gets the details correct, right down to factory tags. But what should get you really excited are two pieces of evidence. The included photo file shows Z15 firewall markings (an SS454 car) and a partial buildsheet with the 983-code 7,000 RPM tach. These two pieces combined would only be for a LS6 Chevelle. Inside is like hopping into a time machine to 1970. There's even a factory AM/FM stereo with 8-track on display! The restoration was all about making this fresh and correct. The factory correct black coordinates with all the dark elements on the outside to deliver an unbeatable color combo this coupe had from day one. There was a nice investment making sure the seats, door panels, carpeting, headliner, and dash all retain their deep dark appearance. The driver gets a factory two-spoke steering wheel that gives a great view of the U14 full round gauge pack. And remember, that special tach goes especially nice with the Muncie shifter. The LS6 is so coveted by collectors because this was the only year Chevy offered it in the Chevelle before insurance regulation killed off this monster motor. That's why it's important to have a date-correct big block professionally built to these performance standards under the hood. That means a 454 cubic-inch V8 with four-bolt main, LS6 solid lifters, and a big Holley four-barrel carburetor on top. Plus, this fresh build has all the right pieces, like the bold orange block, chrome valve covers, and intake diaphragm sealing to the cowl induction hood. And you control it all with the strong Muncie M22 Rock Crusher four-speed manual transmission. The power is unmistakable the moment you fire up the V8 and the dual exhaust makes its presence known. But don't just listen to the rumble, follow its path in the undercarriage photos. There you can appreciate how thorough the restoration is, right down to the red oxide paint underneath. Plus, you're also going to spot strong SS features like the boxed trailing arms and thick sway bars front & rear. Add in power steering and power brakes w/discs up front, and it will be irresistible to add miles to the low-mileage odometer. We've already mentioned some of the terrific paperwork that comes with the coupe, but it also has the owner's manual, title docs, build receipts, and restoration photos so you can fully document this special car that has been given top-quality investments.
