Description:
1979 Chevrolet Blazer
This truck came to me as part of my Dads estate. He owned it since the early 1980's and it saw occasional use until around 2012 when it started having a problem. It would idle, but the engine would die if you stepped on the gas. He assumed it was a fuel filter, but it never became a priority to investigate further as his health had diminished by then. It was parked where it sits, and has been there ever since. This truck is pretty stock. Dad was a mechanic, and I remember that he rebuilt the engine shortly after he bought it (it was a few years old, this was the mid 1980's) but I don't know why. He owned several vehicles, and this was only a daily driver for a few years. It didn't get a lot of use past the late 1980's. I have no way of knowing what the mileage was when the engine was rebuilt, or if the odometer has even rolled over. It currently reads 79614.4 miles, but I can't guarantee that's accurate.
The engine is a 350, and it has a 3 speed automatic transmission. NP-203 transfer case with aftermarket manual hubs on the front, which was a popular upgrade that disconnects the front differential for on-road use (for better mileage and handling). The transfer case shift positions are: High, Lo, High Lock, Low Lock and Neutral. With the hubs engaged and transfer case in either of the "lock" positions, the transfer case differential is locked so the front/rear axles get equal power. This is perfect for off-road use, and ice/snow. It has a GM 10-bolt front axle, and GM 12-bolt on the rear.
There's spots of rust as shown in the photos. Dad boughta left/right replacement door and left/right replacement front fender (all brand new) but never got around to installing them. They will sell with the truck. It has a very heavy custom push bar on the front, and custom trailer hitch (no ball included, but they're cheap) on the rear. He used to haul a large dump-trailer with this, so it's pretty solid. This does have a removable top, but I'm not aware that Dad ever actually removed it.
It will need to be towed or trailer'd from it's current location. A flatbed would be best, as I'm not real confident about the tires. Disregard the shipping section above, I will not ship so this needs a local buyer.
These older K5 Blazers are getting extremely difficult to find, and they tend to bring a high price when restored.
This is titled in Oregon under Dad's name (he died a few years ago). The title is clean, and unbranded. I have the notarized signoffs from all the heirs to his estate. I went to DMV to transfer the title to my name, but they instructed me to wait and let the new owner do it as the title fee would just be duplicated. According to DMV, the title transfer will be straightforward.
This will be a cash only, local sale. No checks/money orders, Paypal, etc.
Thanks for looking!
