1971 Chevelle SS
Up for bid is my 1971 Chevelle SS. This is an awesome, beautiful street/strip type car. You can cruise with the family to the ice cream stand, head to the local car show and bring home a trophy, or head to the dragstrip and run mid 11's. This car is very reliable. It always starts right up and will run all day without a hick-up! It's very easy to drive on the street, unless you stomp on the gas, then you better be prepared for all the horsepower the 502 big block puts out! This car is very clean and it shows beautifully. I guarantee every time you take the car out, you will draw attention. If you're looking for a stock or numbers matching car, this isn't for you, but if you want a clean, ultimate street/strip machine, here you go! Be sure to check out the in depth video and photos!
Body - Paint - Frame
The body on this car is super clean and straight. She definitely deserves the black paint job it wears. Body panels are all metal. No bondo or filler here! All body panels and gaps line up nicely. Bumpers have been rechromed. All bright trim is either new or restored.
The paint is extremely nice. There are no bubbles or blemishes of that kind. The paint job is over 20 years old, but you would think it was just recently done. No one believes me when I tell them how old the paint is, it shows that well. It's a single stage, polyurethane paint. In my opinion, it polishes up to look nicer than a clear coat paint. Being an older paint job, you know there isn't any bad body work hiding under fresh paint. Since it is older, you will find a few, small paint chips if you study the car up close with a fine tooth comb. It's unavoidable if you drive and use a car. I'm really nit picking here though. The paint is beautiful and I have won trophies with it at car shows.
The trunk and floors are original and solid.
I just recently added a frame from a convertible. The convertible frame is stronger because it is boxed from the factory. It's a very nice frame that was media blasted and powder coated in semi-gloss black. Everything bolted to the frame is new such as brake and fuel lines, bushings, etc. All control arms are powdercoated, etc.
The inner fenders, radiator core support, top radiator support, and header panel are powdercoated gloss black.
Engine
The engine is a GM zz502 Big Block. It started as a 502 hp GM crate engine, but I changed that. It now has 607 horsepower and 613 ft lbs of torque(see dyno sheet photo). The engine has less than 6000 miles total on it, less than 2000 after the upgrades. It runs great, has no leaks, does not smoke, and just sounds badass! Here's some of the added parts...

Conclusion
In conclusion, this is a very nice, street/strip car. Well mannered on the street, but will run 11.5's in the quarter mile. It's not a trailer queen, but does very well at the local cruise-ins and shows. It's a beautiful, fast, awesome sounding car that demands attention! Very nice example of a muscle car! I'm only selling it because we would like to purchase another home.
Known issues
The car currently does not have a heater or air conditioner. In the 13 years I've owned the car, I didn't feel the need to add it. It would be very easy to add a Vintage Air brand heater and/or air conditioning if you want to.
The middle parking brake cable isn't on the car. It was touching the exhaust in one spot and I didn't want it to rattle. It is included and I can put it back on if you want. All parking brake cables are new.
The floor pans under the car have never been cleaned and refinished. There isn't any rust issues, just still has some of the original 1970's gunk. Not really an issue, just mentioning in case someone is wanting a show car that they can put mirrors under it.
When I bought it 13 years ago, it was presented as a true SS. A 71 Chevelle can not be proved to be a true "SS" without a build sheet or other original documents, which I do not have. Interpret that as you wish.I have not found anything to disprove it is not a "SS".
