1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, LS5
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
Details:
Up for sale is a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS5 car. This car is a true cranberry red SS 454 with build sheet. It is an all numbers matching car minus the non-numbers matching LS6 crate motor. This is a very nice local show car, and a car that gets great attention at car shows and cruise-ins, or wherever you go in it. The car is also a great weekend cruiser. It is a very nice car that has been well maintained. Rolling through the parking lots and down the road it sounds nice. Definitely has a nice strong Muscle Car sound. Paint is correct code 75 Cranberry Red and is very nice. Paint has one small imperfection that is hard to see but I have tried to capture in a photograph. Its located on the forward portion of left quarter panel. The stripes are correct and painted to original dimensions. The body is laser straight, solid, and has no rust. Car is the recipient of an older frame-off some time back by previous owner but is an older restoration. The interior is in perfect shape and is all original. Headliner and carpet are original and perfect shape. Dash pad, door panels all great. The glass is in very nice shape as well as the chrome and bright metal. The trunk is solid with original spatter paint. All factory gauges, tach, etc. function normal. Everything on the car works but the factory radio has been disconnected so a hidden stereo (in glovebox) can take its place. Car did have Vintage Air installed by previous owner but the compressor failed somewhere along the way and has been removed (I still have it).
A few more highlights:
-Factory LS6 Gen IV, 4 bolt main crate motor (450HP)
-Correct factory LS6 intake
-Solid lifter camshaft
-TH 400 trans
-3:73 12 bolt Posi-Traction rear end with boxed lower control arms and frame stiffeners
-Factory 5500 RPM redline tachometer and gauges (all working)
-Front power disc brakes
-Power steering
-Factory floor center console
-Sport steering wheel with tilt column
-Factory 14 inch original wheels
-Has hidden stereo remote control stereo in glove box.
-Factory cowl induction that functions well.

I'm certain I've missed some details so please feel free to contact me or send me your phone number and I'll call you back. I have owned many Chevelles, 442, and Camaros over the years and this one has by far been my favorite. I've always wanted a factory correct, unmolested 1970 SS454 and I finally got one. I've owned this car for several years and have always been pleased with it. I use it very infrequently but I just enjoy having it. It was NEVER my intention to ever offer this car for sale but due to some unplanned expenses coupled with my children's increased school tuition cost I've been left with trying to obtain some additional funds. Unfortunately selling this car makes the most sense to generate these funds. I will never be able to locate another Factory LS5 car like this again without paying a fortune for it, so this is a very unfortunate day for me. If I do find another way to generate funds, which I hope I do, this auction will be cancelled.
My future plans with the car to make it really sharp was to detail the engine and engine compartment. I was going to pull the engine and trans out, put the engine on the stand and slowly remove, blast, and repaint all items. Get the exhaust manifolds powder coated factory cast color and re-shoot the engine compartment. Just really make everything in there incredibly detailed and sharp. Make a couple Year-One orders etc.
I want you to be as happy with my Chevelle as I have been, so if after the purchase you feel that I have misrepresented car, you are not obligated to buy.
I encourage all interested buyers to come take a look at car and I will make car available to any 3rd party inspections desired.
Clear Tennessee title in hand.
I do not have a buy-it now price and wish to let the auction run its course.
I have a modest reserve price which pretty much just represents my investment.
