1957 CHEVROLET CONVERTIBLE PROJECT CAR!!
Price: -
Item location: Mandan, North Dakota, United States
Description:
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210
I have had this car for only a few months and found it too difficult to restore myself and I can't afford to have someone else finish it. This Car will require a full restoration. It does not run. It will roll and steer. No brakes. This project is not for the faint of heart. Although the car looks decent, EXPECT to do body work. EXPECT to do electrical work. EXPECT to do mechanical work. EXPECT to spend money on parts, chrome plating, and re-painting. EXPECT to buy and install a new interior. AND MORE. I will not "sugar coat" the condition of this car. I will say that it is a very good candidate for restoration. All trim and garnish molding are accounted for except the left side quarter window garnish molding available at Ecklers for $75.99, part # 57-190324.Other parts missing are misc. engine components such as the exhaust manifolds, heater hoses, fan, and belts to name a few. The car is also missing the drive shaft, one headlight bucket and radiator. I am positive that there are other smaller parts of the car that may be missing but nothing major. I just want everyone to know that. The VIN tag and Cowl tag has been removed BUT THEY ARE INCLUDED and will have to be reattached.Engine - Transmission: The engine is a 350 cu. in. out of a 71 Monte Carlo. (that is what I was told) It was running when removed from the Monte Carlo but I have never started it. The transmission is a turbo 350 and I was told that it worked well. I never tested it.
Frame: The frame and X member is clean and solid. It appears that it was painted several years ago.
Drive Train: No drive shaft. original suspension and rear end.
Floors: There has been patch work done on the floors and the patches are from donor cars.
Trunk: The trunk floor and inner wells were replaced with donor parts. More welding is required.
Body: Body work is needed. There has been patches on the doors and quarter panels. The patches are from donor cars.
Rocker Panels: The rockers were replaced with new however, it looks as if they were installed incorrectly.
Top: The top iron is in great shape but the vinyl is not. A new vinyl top is included. See picture.
Glass; there has been a NEW windshield installed. Also included (but not installed) is NEW door glass and wing glass. Quarter glass is original.
