1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Tribute
If you want a 1969 Camaro that pretty much does it all and does it well, this RS/SS hardtop tribute deserves closer examination. Built pretty much the way we'd all like our F-bodies to be built, it offers big block power, choice upgrades, and a slick OEM look that really doesn't get any better. In short, it delivers the OEM experience, just one that's turned up to 11. Cortez Silver is this car's original color, and if you're... going to build a slick resto-mod that takes no prisoners, you really don't need to advertise with a flashy paint job. The body was a premium design in just about every way imaginable and the subtle paint only emphasizes the many wonderful details that make the 1969 Camaros perhaps the most popular muscle cars of all time. A cowl-induction hood always looks right on these cars, along with the duck tail spoiler out back, slick vinyl top, and the stripes were expertly applied to complete the look. At this point, we're not really worrying about whether it's a real SS or RS model, but those features have been incorporated into the build to make it just what you wanted. Note the RS headlights and a black SS grille, which has a very intimidating look when it charges up in your rear-view mirror; not many cars have a stronger presence. Nice chrome bumpers, brightly polished stainless trim, and factory-style "396" and "SS" badges on the front fenders make it look stock enough to hide its performance side. The black bucket seat interior is quite stock, right down to the factory bucket seats and steering wheel, and although it shows some signs of age and use, it's to be expected. Wouldn't you want to hop in this Camaro everyday if it were yours? A center console is always a welcome addition, particularly when it's butted up against three auxiliary gauges that monitor the big block up front. The seat covers, door panels, and carpets are in decent condition, and the car includes an aftermarket tachometer mounted on the steering column. Other upgrades include a Kenwood AM/FM/Cassette stereo and the horseshoe shifter is a welcome sight. By keeping a stock-style, wood-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel, there isn't much to tip off potential victims that there's more to this car than meets the eye. In back, the trunk is outfitted with a reproduction mat and a full-sized spare tire and jack assembly that's rarely, if ever, been used. A 454 cubic inch V8 totally fills the engine bay and delivers the kind of effortless performance that proves there's no replacement for displacement. An aluminum intake and Holley 650CFM double pumper carb handle the induction duties, and it sports a highly-detailed look that likely cost a fortune to achieve. Lots of chrome means you'll be opening the hood every chance you get and hardware upgrades include the aluminum radiator, HEI ignition, and a newer brake booster and master cylinder. The engine was painted Chevy orange to keep a correct profile and let the brightwork do the showing off, but the internals are built for combat. A heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic doesn't mind the torque churning through it and the 12-bolt rear uses highway friendly gears for modern road manners. Shiny Rally wheels continue the stock look and carry new 215/60/15 front and 235/70/15 rear blackwall performance radials. Offered with an original owner's manual, this super slick Camaro has upgrades where it matters and a fantastic OEM look that simply doesn't get any better. Call today!
