1964 Chevrolet Impala SS

The market for early '60s Impalas remains strong, and none are as iconic and desirable as the 1964 model SS. With clean styling and potent performance thanks to a wide variety of engines under the hood, Chevrolet created an Impala that could be as unique to each buyer as a custom-tailored suit. This 2-door SS sport coupe (yes, it is a real code 14 SS) has been thoughtfully restored and offers a great color combination, a 4-speed, and a strong-running... small block V8. Finished in correct code 948 Palomar Red, this SS stands out among its more common black and white brothers. Covering straight, clean bodywork, the burgundy-like paint looks awesome with just the right amount of metallic, making it easy to believe it's 1964 all over again. Those long quarter panels are tough to repair if they've been damaged, and given how straight this car is, it's probably never been rusty or hit. General Motors was building high-quality machinery in the '60s, so panel gaps are up to factory standards, and the car fits together very well. The paint was done a few years ago, but still looks good and shines up nicely with no issues hiding underneath. The stainless body trim is excellent, and the bumpers are so nice, they just have to have been recently re-chromed. Up front, the Impala's grille is undamaged, while out back, all six taillights are bright and clear, including the back-up lamps in the center units. Inside the cabin is a very nicely finished code 878 Ivory bucket seat interior that contrasts the deep red exterior perfectly. The interior is beautifully finished with new seat covers, plush red carpets, and proper door panels that highlight the Impala's upscale mission. The console is original and features the SS-exclusive engine-turned trim that matches the dashboard, as well as the highly desirable 4-speed shifter. There's also an original accessory tachometer in its own pod above the steering column and all the gauges are fully functional. The slightly darker instrument panel and beautiful two-tone steering wheel really give this Imp a high class look that makes for a wonderful contrast against its performance credentials. This car also comes equipped with an original AM radio that sounds decent, as well as seat belts up front for safety. The giant trunk offers no unwanted surprises and contains a mat set and a full-sized spare tire. Nestled neatly under the hood is the car's original 327 cubic inch V8, which has been rebuilt back to stock specs. It has all been dressed to look very authentic in the Imp's tidy engine bay, from the Chevy Orange paint on the block, to the decals on the valve covers, to the vintage air cleaner up top. It even uses original "ram's horn" exhaust manifolds and there are tower clamps on the hoses, as original. It fires up easily, drives beautifully and is quite likely one of the most reliable and dependable powertrains in a classic GM; you'll be able to enjoy this SS for years without worry. Floors are in excellent condition with no rust or structural issues to be found, further suggesting that this car has always lived in a dry part of the country. Brakes and suspension have been maintained to factory specs, and a recent Flowmaster dual exhaust system gives the engine a deep, powerful voice. Shiny 15-inch Rally wheels look spectacular and are wrapped in Mastercraft white-letter radials that finish off the slick look. If you're tired of looking at clones and look-a-likes and have been wishing for a real '64 Impala SS, look no further. Beautifully restored with an eye toward originality, this Imp is a turn-key beauty that's priced to move. Call today!
