1953 Chevrolet Kustom Chop Top
1953 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210
I originally purchased the car in 2001, it was a beater left under a tree in Fallbrook, California.
The top is chopped 4 inches, door handles removed, shaved trunk and hood.
Hood corners are rounded. A 1953 Dodge grille was narrowed to float inside a Kustom made, molded-in grill surround. The hood was modified with rounded hood corners, made into a single units, with the trim removed and replaced with a center peak. The headlights were frenched, and the front bumper was replaced with a 1954 Pontiac bumper.
At the back the rear portion of the fender was replaced with an 1954 Oldsmobile rear section including the taillights and rear bumper. The stock side trim was removed and replaced with a shortened Packard unit.
Inside the dashboard was replaced with a modified 1954 Pontiac dashboard with 1954 Oldsmobile steering wheel. The interior was upholstered in Tijuana, Mexico. The frame was C notch in the rear and the rebuilt Camaro rear end was added with lowering blocks for the perfect ride height. At the front the coils were cut to drop the front.
Drive train is a 305 Small Block built by drag race legend DODE MARTIN with a Rebuilt 350 transmission and mellow sounds from Glass packs…
