1973 Chevrolet Caprice convertible

1973 Chevy Caprice Convertible46 year old Caprice
1973 Chevrolet Caprice Convertible, Chevy did it again another super cool design that is rare and very desirable. Car features a 400 ci small block v/8 motor, 2 barrel carburetor, 3 speed automatic transmission, Factory Air conditioning, Power roof up and down, Vinyl interior, Power windows, power locks, am fm factory stereo, rear fender skirts.
Car was built in 04/1973 door sticker on door jam and not sold and titled until 1974, Car has 88813 actual miles and does run well. This car has been driven less then 2850 miles in the past 29 years. For the past 15 years it has been setting inside storage and not started during this time. In the past 6 weeks this car has been dug out from storage. Gas was added along with a battery and oil and filter was replaced. And as any Chevy lover would expect this car started very easy with a a few moments of cranking and a little help priming the carburetor and it ran well. I did have to replace brake master cylinder along with rear wheel cylinders on left and right sides, bled brakes, new fluid and know car stops well. And of course I had to take that first 4 mile test run after setting all those years amazing it was a cold day and I had great heat and it ran well. I had this car out also on other days along with a day that was 0 degrees again worked well.
Folks I have taken all these photos within the past 20 days of this ad being listed. I will do my very best to give you the most accurate and honest description of this car possible I hide nothing and try not to forget anything. If you have any questions or concerns during this auction or need any other pictures or information, Please feel free to contact me and I will get them to you.
Interior:
Things I found with the car that I feel you should know. We will start with interior: Instrument panel seems to have all working gauges and lights, dash pad is cracked, odometer was working fine but one of the last times out we were in reverse got on a patch of ice, tires spun after starting to go forward odometer bounced and quite. After returning back I did remove cable from transmission and placed in drive and little plastic speedo gear does not seem to be spinning at transmission. Minor but just letting you know. Power windows and locks all work but are a little slow (need to be used) . Has factory stereo that works. Seats are very nice, power top works but I only put it up about a 12 inches because of cracking the top being so cold. ( top should be replaced) Car will need weather strips seals replaced. The carpet has been removed at some point. (needs carpet)
Exterior:
Things I saw and can point out to you. Folks this is overall a very nice solid straight car that has never been modified or messed with. To the exception of the paint it is not the original color, it has been painted brown in the early 1990s. The original color was the darker blue which there are still areas the original blue can be seen in pictures. Bumpers, trim and appearance package items not so great, broken or cracked bumper filler aprons, left front headlight bezel is loose. Car has a very good and solid frame can see in pics. The paint is faded dull and has some rust blisters on quarter panels and trunk lid and a few others areas on car. Car body looks to be straight and very solid, some scratches and small dings on body. Have taken pictures of the car on a lift to verify and show you the frame floors and underside of body condition as stated. Floors do have some small minor patches either metal pieces or inside fiberglass patch coating. Nothing major but trying to give you all the details possible, Good or bad. Please look at all the pictures and please ask if you need any other ones.
Mechanical:
Things I think you should know or I that I noticed. Car does run very well after warming up a few minutes then it will idle on its own, but does have a hesitation and a flat spot in acceleration, This car does have great heat but blower fan does have that common squeal for about 5 seconds upon turning on. Slight exhaust leak and normal lifter tap. (needs run), A/C is not cold but completely hooked up, will need charged, Tires are like new except about 25 years old and flat spot from sitting they ride rough (need replaced). car does not have a spare tire. This car should have a complete and full service gone over. New spark plugs, plug wires, points and condenser, fan belts, air filter, fuel pump, carb cleaned. Folks these items I mentioned are just my opinion you may not want to do anything to this car just drive it home. I just want you to know things you may not see in pictures. This is a very solid and nice car. Also if you decide to drive the car home you got the information needed to make your decision. Again this car does not appear to have ever been torn apart or modified. What a great piece of history that you can drive, most history you can only read about.
