1986 CHEVY EL CAMINO PICKUP TRUCK:Classic100% rust free good running and driving Chevrolet El Camino restoration project could easily become a daily driver. Vehicle has lived its entire life in the Southwest Desert so on a rust free scale of 1 to 10 it's a 10. Virtually every part on this vehicle is still readily available through the various suppliers like LMC Truck, etc. The El Camino is classified as a truck, not a car.
SBC 305 CID V8 WITH EDELBROCK 1405 CARBURETOR:
Stock 5.0L SBC is aspirated through a 4bbl Edelbrock 1405 carb. Starts every time with a turn of the key. Runs quiet & cool. Puffs some blue smoke on cold startup but diminishes rapidly once warmed. Here's a brief video of a cold start:https://youtu.be/2-POPxtOQ5g
Edelbrock 1405 is manually choked but there is no choke cable installed. Fresh oil and filter plus new fuel pump and clear fuel filter. Typical minor oil leak from rear main seal and driver side valve cover gasket. Power steering works with typical small leak from pump. No pump whine or squeal at full lock.
TH350 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:
Previous owner installed a rebuilt TH350 automatic transmission with shift kit and new torque converter. Shifts through all the gears exceptionally nice. Has fresh fluid and filter with new pan gasket. No leaks.
INTERIOR:
Interior needs complete restoration. Seats are obviously not original and should be scrapped once new ones are acquired. Carpet needs replaced. Center console shifter works fine but everything around it needs restored. Glass is all good and door handles and latches work but windows don't go up and down. Door cards are not original. Dash pad has protective carpet which hides cracked vinyl pad underneath. Fuel gauge and volt gauge works but temp gauge and speedo don't. Truck was born with AC so everything is there except compressor, hoses and brackets. Heater has been bypassed. Key for ignition and door locks work fine. Some typical GM tilt column slop exists.
FRAME & BODY:
This truck has absolutely no rust which makes it valuable. It's a 10 out of 10 as far as no rust. The sheet metal's been repainted once and looks fair despite scratches along the sides where somebody keyed it. There's a ding on the left rear tailgate and rear bumper and a small chunk out of the top center of grill. It's never been wrecked. It is missing some chrome trim around the top of the bed. There's no bondo or filler except for a couple inch area on the right rear corner behind the bumper where you can see some spider cracking.
SUSPENSION,WHEELS & TIRES:
4 new shocks. 4 wheel brake inspection checks out all good. Stops quick. Drives smooth with no rattles, no unusual wander or issues. Has four 17x7 chrome wire wheels with older tires and fair tread that don't have cracks and all hold air. Comes with wheel hub socket to remove knock offs.
EXHAUST:Exhaust is stock with OEM-style catalytic converter so it's quiet and 100% emissions legal.
DIFFERENTIAL:Stock with non-posi carrier. No leaks. No issues. Fresh gear oil.
PAPERWORK:
Clean and clear notarized Arizona title comes with sale. Never salvaged. Truck is eligible for Historic Plates in any state which means you can get a $5k full coverage Collector Car insurance policy from outfits like Grundy Worldwide or Haggerty for only $9 per month and emissions are forever waived.
