I bought this reliable Chevy LUV/ Isuzu 2.2 diesel conversion in 2014 for use in Palm Springs, CA. I personally drove it across the country fromWisconsin to Southern California (and over the Rockies). From 2014 to 2017, it waslicensed in CA as grandfathered vehicle sosmogging it did not apply. If you want to bring it to CA, you will have no problem there. In the Summer of 2017, I sold my house in CA and moved to WA, towing this little truck along the way on a flatbed trailer. Since then, it has been garage kept except for the occasional dump run or trips to the local market. Folks like looking at it and I get a lot of compliments because it's a rare truck that has a ton of personality. It has a blockheater (plug it in overnight) that isnecessary in cold winter weather - and the fuelgauge is not working, but other than this, it runs excellent. After I brought it to CA, I wound up putting new, larger tires on it and completed some minor electricalwork from a professionalshop. I've also changed the oil regularly, upgraded the glow plugs, and have put in a new air filter at least twice. The truck is 2wd, but is supertorquey and has gotten me out of some situations that I couldn't believe in the deserts of CA. It's roomy enough for my 6'3" frame withheadroom to spare. The truck comes with a jack, mounted spareunder the bed, shop manuals, spare fuses, and maintenance logs since I bought it. It has a mono Sony cassette player/ that works fine. I love this truck but my new life here in WA requires somethingdifferent as I just had a son. I think this truck will make someone very happy.
I can drive it to Seattle or Portland for pickup after cleared payment or you can arrange to pick it up here in Port Angeles, WA.
From 2014 Ebay listing when I bought it:I have owned and driven this chevy luv truck for ten years...I bought it in las vegas, it was a nevada/arizona truck all its life...Since I brought it to wisconsin I have never driven it in bad weather...[winter]... It always has been garaged and dry... No part of the cab including the doors has ever had so much as a pin hole, the box is excellent but not perfect,[a few small dings from use]...The frame is as good as they come..every piece of sheetmetal is original to this truck when new...You would be really hard pressed to find a better body/frame...When I put the Luv together, I bought a diesel Isuzu pup that had a rusty frame but the entire running gear was perfect with only 136000 miles..Before I put the engine in I put in a new rear main seal, set the valves and installed a new timing belt, water pump and starter...I converted it to a standard G.M. internal regulator alternator...The 5 speed was completely dismantled and all new bearings and syncros were installed, it works perfectly just as the engine does...It was given a new clutch set-up also...Wheel cylinders, master cylinder and all brakes were replaced giving it nice brakes and it has tight steering...I put in mechanical auto meter water temp and oil pressure gauges as well as an autometer tach...The truck even has working back up lights! The trucks economy rating was 33 mpg city and 44 highway[pup rating] and at a steady 60 mph @2500 rpm it has given 45 mpg many times! I have never ran anything but diesel in it,no drain oil or fryer grease...I put in no carpet to keep the floor bone dry keeping it from having any rust issues from soggy carpet and damp insulation... Putting the 2.2 isuzu diesel in a early series Luv is putting the set-up in a lighter truck than it originaly came in... They are simpler and easier to work on than the 81 and newer pup or Luv ..Everything is easier to get at...The hood tips ahead and is completely vertical getting it out of the way and there is no unnececcesary stuff to work around...Both series luvs[and pups] have the same frontal frame area and it was just a bolt in swap...[ Isuzu built both pups and luvs in the same factory in japan] They just didn't put the diesel in the early luv...There are essentially no custom parts except for the alternator mount...Simple fabrication there... The truck uses the original pup diesel engine/frame mounts, transmission and trans mount, pup driveshaft, radiator, rear axle center section, [to keep the correct gearing], clutch cable, throttle cable, fuel filter, they are all right out of the pup diesel donor...The only problem in ten years of driving I had to replace a starter... Nothing else, not even a glow plug...It is a clone of a pup diesel...Just nicer looking! It is so reliable and cheap to run...It has good power, starts easily, doesn't use or drip oil...There are no chips or cracks in the windshield, the heater and wipers work as they should and tires are good...A cool unique feature it has is SUPER rare factory original bucket seats that I had reupholstered as original...This little Luv is a REALLY nice truck with a quality and proven diesel convertion you can drive cheaply and look nice doing so! I put around 5k miles per year on it so it is not a high mileage truck by any means for one of these...[about 175k total miles on running gear, the body has less]... This is a well maintained super solid, super runnin, SUPER nice looking chevy Luv..
