Description:
1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS (#s Matching Engine, Trans, & Rear End)
This is one of the nicest 1970 Z/28 RS you will likely ever find. It had a very high quality nut and bolt restoration only 1373 miles ago. The odometer was set back to zero at the time of the restoration. The paint and body work performed at this time is extremely high quality, and the car is exceptionally straight with excellent panel fitment. This car has the numbers matching LT1 solid lifter engine, numbers matching M21 Muncie close ratio 4-speed transmission, and numbers matching date coded COZ code 12-bolt positraction rear axle. This car has power steering and power brakes. This is a center console car with Hurst shifter. The car is code 65 Hugger Orange with black stripes and black interior. This car was built in Van Nuys Body Plant in Las Angeles CA. The car was completed the first week of April 1970 (04A car) and delivered to Russ Lyons Chevrolet in Boulder Colorado: official GM production date 04/06/1970.I have owned many restored muscle cars in my life, this car is the nicest I have ever had the privilege to own. The photos do not do it justice--it can be better appreciated in person. Fuel gage and speedometer work, Heat and defrost work well and blow high pressure air like a newer car. Floor mount gas pedel, rear bumper guards, 8,000 rpm tach w/ 150 mile per hour speedometer!
There were 124,901 Camaros produced in 1970. Of this 124,901 only 8,733 Z/28s were produced, 6%. It is not known how many Z/28s were produced in 1970 with the RS dual package, but it has been said less than 900. Regardless, the RS Z/28 is one of the most sought after and most collectible cars in the industry. A quick comparison: there were 20,302 1969 Z/28 produced. Considering there were around 12,000 less 1970 Z/28s produced and they received basically the same solid lifter high compression engine as the 1969 Z/28 (except for 1970 receiving longer 3.480 stroked crankshaft and produced 70 more horsepower) I can understand why the 1970 Z/28 is becoming so desirable. The 1970 RS Z/28 is the ULTIMATE!
I have watched these 1970 Z/28s appreciate at a rapid rate during the past 5-10 years. This is the second I have owned and one of my favorite all time cars. I am selling this car to pay off some business debt. However, I will probably regret selling this car. My gut tells me since the 1970 Z/28 is the highest horsepower 2nd Gen Camaro ever produced and the only single year 2nd Gen ever to be equipped with 12 bolt rear axle and solid lifter 11.0:1 compression ratio engine along with 780cfm dual feed Holley carburetor--my gut tells me it will not be long before these cars are selling for as much or possibly more than the 1969 RS Z/28. I think we will see 1970 RS Z/28s in excellent condition will sell for over $100,000 within the next 10-15 years, maybe sooner. The 1970 Z/28 was after all the pinnacle of the Z/28 in power and performance, even more so than the 1969 Z/28. Then beginning in 1971 the power and performance was pulled back/reduced, the 1971 and later receiving a 10 bolt rear axle, hydraulic lifters, smaller carburetor, and compression ratio of only 9.0:1 or less.

Seller Added on 12/22/2018:Thank you for your interest. This is a very rare, correct, and special car and near concours condition. I will be taking it to Mecum Indy in May for auction unless someone steps up in between now and then. Certain Mecum and Barret Jackson auctions, good ones have been bringing my asking price or more. A person is going to have to reach high to own this car. However, as long as it is not wrecked and maintained, I am confident it will continue to go up and up in value as a good investment for the next owner-- just as it has for the last 20 years it likely will for the next 20 years and then some.
