This car was sold for $15,000.00 on E-bay in 2004. below is an e-mail that seller sent me recently, after I asked him about the car.
Hello Brian,
I was definitely satisfied the car is a real Z28. There were several indicators, all of which could have need added after it was built of course. However the car had obviously been a racecar for quite some time and people usually don't go to the trouble to correctly fake a racecar. The spot the speedo cable goes through the firewall(only in this spot on the Z-28 cars),12 bolt, disc brakes, correct master cylinder and proportioning valve, along with the tall rear bumper guards, correct stripes, clutch pedal, etc all made me believe it was a real Z28, especially since they obviously hadnt been recently added. Again, someone might slap Z28 emblems on a race car but usually don't try to pass it off as real. The high performance cars were usually the ones that saw race duty early in life. A previous owner changed the heater box when he put the big block in it which probably makes some believe it's a SS396 car, but if you're going to take a Z28 you're definitely not going to mess up a factory big block car, lol. Since its a Los Angeles car with no X code it's going to be hard to prove it disprove, I'm no expert by any means but I've had a bunch of first generation camaro and currently have a '69 X66 car, and I sure wouldn't have bought the one you have if I wasn't satisfied that it was a real Z28. Good luck, Victor.
