The 1976 Nova Gold Medalist

1976 was a year of great celebration in the United States. It was the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and also a year of both Summer and Winter Olympic games. It was also the year of the birth of the very limited production Nova Gold Medalist.

This model is so rare and valuable it was not listed as an option in any GM showroom literature or dealer sales catalogs.

Furthermore, the gold color was not listed as an optional Nova color. Strings were pulled at GM and a paint code for the Medalist was born. Each Chevrolet dealer was limited to the purchase of only one Gold Medalist. The Gold Medalist package included gold paint and a special emblem. The Gold Medalist was available in both a two-door and a four-door model, with all of the regular Nova options available.

Today, the closest most collectors will get to a rare 1976 Chevy Nova Gold Medalist & California survivor, is by browsing a classic car magazine, seeing one at a NOVA car club show or holding a small die cast model in their hands.

A two-door, V8 with factory air conditioning was the rarest Gold Medalist ordered.

OUR 1976 NOVA GOLD MEDALIST

We drove this rare classic car back to our Foundations' yard; partially on CA I5 interstate at speeds up to 55 miles-per-hour.With 34,119 miles on the odometer and a clear title, we're told the previous owner had his mechanic perform a tune-up, brake job & smog certification before we were given it.

Our Foundation volunteers had considered turning this car into a Resto-Mod but the car maintains so much of its original features that we decided to keep it as a survivor There is an old saying that a car can be restored 100 times, but it is only original once.

This car should be fully serviced before attempting to start; including at the minimum, new battery, carburetor adjustment or rebuild, rubber hoses/belts replaced, fluids replaced & gas tank flush But you know that.

We've reduced our asking price by $3,000 so the new owner can at the minimum 1] purchase a new set of black or white wall tires& wheels, & 2] repair a couple interior cloth bench seat seams that need to be re-stitched.
