1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

30 years ago, I just got my license, I was stopped at a red light in my parents car. All of a sudden the car started to shake and rattle like a freight train was going to run me over. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw it, a 1966 Chevelle SS396 convertible. When the light turned green, I pulled off into the first driveway and let it by. It was Marina blue Super Sportwith a white convertible top. I never saw such a great looking car. I followed it around town until it launched out of sightleaving a stop light. I asked everyone about the car. Local legend was that it was the fastest car in town. I found out who the owner was and I asked if I could by it every time I saw him. 20 years later I had the chance to buy the car and I did. I am listing the car for sale after 10 years because I am building another one. I decided to build a pro touring car and this car is too nice to modify. It will not be easy to part with it but I don't have the space.

It is an original 138 Super Sport convertible. Factory Marina Blue exterior, bright blue interior with a white convertible top. It has the numbers matching 396/325 hp motor.Console Muncie 4 speed witha Hurst shifter. 12 bolt posi rear. The car came equipped with drums all the way around but I did a disc brake conversion up front. It has power steering and brakes. All four corners of the car have new Hotchkis/ Fox high performance sportshocks. To help with the cornering I installed a new Hotchkis front sway bar.To feed the motor I added aQuick Fuel carb and high flow Holley fuel pump. I also installed a new alternator and fuel tank. The car has a Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust system. The headers are Hooker Super Comps that are ceramic coated. The car has 17" Torque Thrust wheels and tires. I put them on with the disc brakes. I have 15" rally's and 14" SS wheels that could be available.

The car was restored in the late 90's. It has 148K miles on it. The paint still looks great with just a few flaws. The interior shows very well. I replaced the carpet and floor mats but the seats stillhave the original skins. You can tell all of the glass is original. The white top is manual. It could use a good scrubbing but it's very tight. The rear window is plastic. The dash is in excellent condition. The frame, floor and trunkpans are super clean. The car drives great. My wife and I would get in, drop the top, and drive it all weekend long. It sounds fantastic. Turns heads everywhere it goes.

I have set the reserve somewhat low because I know the market has been a little soft. I have been following 66 Chevelles on line and at the auctions. This is a numbers matching, 4 speed clean car with the right colors (IMO). Please feel free to ask any questions. I encourage all inspections.
