Price: US $37,000.00 Item location: Boring, Oregon, United States
Description:

1957 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

FOR SALE: 1957 Corvette Project Car,This was ORIGINALLY a Factory Fuel Injected 1957 Corvette, 283-250HP FUEL INJECTION with POWER GLIDE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. (FK Engine code).Documented by NOLAN ADAMS in one of his many books, The COMPLETE CORVETTE RESTORATION & TECHNICAL GUIDE VOL.1 1953 to 1962. Nolans documentation of THIS CAR is on PAGE 197 (vin# E57S105493) The serial # and engine Identification are listed in his book, VOLUME 1 on page 197. 283V8 250HP Fuel Injection w/PG automatic transmission, 1 of 102 Very Rare! NOLAN ADAMS one of the Founding members of N.C.R.S. & a Master Gudge, He lived in California, he Passed away at his home (on his birthday) Jan.18th 2017 He was 84 years old. (R.I.P.)
This Corvette was originally painted INCA SILVER (1 of 65 Rarest color in 1957 by a lot!) with Beige/Ivory Interior, it has been said the the SILVER paint option in 1957 cost $10. extra. This is a rare FACTORY (removable) HARD TOP (ONLY) Convertible Corvette. NO Convertible Top, NEVER HAD ONE! 1 of 931 Corvettes (1957) Produced from GM WITH the Auxiliary HARDTOP, were Produced WITHOUT the factory Soft top.
This 1957 Corvette lived most of its life in DRY Central CALIFORNIA (Sacramento area) still has its original California BLACK PLATES. It has a rock solid Frame, very good body, one minor parking lot repair RF headlight area (years ago). Interior is basicly complete and looks good for its age and use. O.D.O Reads 81,756. miles, believed to be original. I bought a HIGH DOLLAR new PRESS MOLDED HOOD, it has a newer aluminum high flow Radiator, Newer Gas Tank, plus has had recent BRAKE WORK (Has pedal and STOPS). Also has a newer front wiring harness with a number of connections never hooked up.
Car is MISSING (NO) Motor, Fuel Injection unit & AT Trans. The nice thing is GM DID NOT STAMP THESE EARLY YEAR CORVETTE/CAR ENGINES WITH A V.I.N. Number. Sooooo IF YOU FIND a 1957 283 V8 with a FK Code, you will have a matching number engine (if the date codes are no more than 6 months prior to when (Per NCRS Records: Built Friday July 26th 1957, was 2nd from last Corvette built on that day) this Corvette was built.).
The previous long time owner lived on a gravel road, the stock 56-58 solid stock Hubcaps would get pebbles between the wheels and hubcaps and make tink/tink noise when driving. (The GM Bulletin to dealers fix was to put vacuum hose in the steel wheel openings) In 1959 to 1962 Corvettes, GMs stock hubcaps (that look almost the same as earlier) had slots around the outer edge to let any pebbles out! The previous owner sold the 56-58 solid caps and replaced them with the 59-62 style hubcaps with factory slots. Also at some point in time, the previous owner/s installed a Clutch Pedal for a Standard Transmission, so you could put a stick shift in it if you wanted too. For me I like ORIGINAL, what it came with from the factory, but thats me. Please pardon the one white F-bomb sticker, it was installed by the longtime previous owner. He always said he LOVED this 57 Vette and that he would NEVER sell this Corvette as long as he lived. HE NEVER DID, He passed away and the Corvette was sold by his Estate.
Please remember this is a Project 1957 FI Corvette needing a FULL RESTORATION with NO Motor, NO FI Unit, NO Transmission! But with Nolan Adams Documentation this Corvette will ALWAYS BE WORTH MORE MONEY than every other 1956 1957 Corvette Project (Similar) out there. I took this Corvette Project to the 2018 Mecum Collector Car Auction in Portland Oregon earlier in the year, It BID to $35,000. It did not quite reach my reserve of $37,000. If you ADD the 10% Auctions buyers premium, $35,000. + $3,500. the Mecum auctions buyers price would have been $38,500.
This is a RARE OPPORTUNITY to buy a SUPER RARE Documented (PERSONALLY INSPECTED) by a Well KNOW AUTHOR, MASTER JUDGE & CORVETTE ENTHUSIAST! A car with this PEDIGREE deserves to be put back to a original N.C.R.S. type (+ or -) Restoration. If you want to Retro Rod/Rat Rod/ Street Rod this car, please LOOK elsewhere, there should be a number of 1956 1957 Base Corvette Projects out there that would work for you. This is a rare 57 FI Corvette with rare DOCUMENTATION that would/should be the pride of anyone out there, when done! Do Not Miss Out! Buy here and SAVE! RARE CAR!~ I was going to restore this 1957 FI Corvette project myself, BUT I found and bought a 1963 Corvette Coupe FI project that I am going to restore instead. The ONLY reason I am selling this 1957 FI Corvette!
