"1988 marked the 35th year of the Corvette, and Chevrolet celebrated with the C4 Corvette 35th Anniversary Edition. 2,050 Anniversary Editions sold, and it was very much a car of its time. It was finished in ready-for-Miami-Vice "Triple White" with white paint, white seating upholstery and door panels, white steering wheel, and white wheels. It even had white lettering. Contrasting all the brightness was a black roof panel and black windshield frame. Today, 35th Anniversary Corvettes command a significant premium in price over standard cars.
Other interior improvements and changes for the 1988 Corvette included new carpeted door sills and improved ventilation for coupes. 1988 Corvettes optioned with the 3.07:1 performance rear axle also had an improved muffler system that provided less restrictive airflow, resulting in a bump of 5 hp to 245 hp for so-optioned models. All other models still made 240 hp. That muffler was considered too loud for the convertible, so it didn't come on ragtops with the 3.07 rear-end."
