1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

Cruisin Classics is fortunate enough to offer to you this Documented, one family owned, original paint, 37,104 ACTUAL MILE survivor, 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. This is truly a rare find. It was Purchased New going from father to son on July 5th, 1968. The Dealer was Jack Maxton Chevrolet in Columbus, Ohio which is located just down the street from our dealership. The purchase is documented with the original sales invoice and Protect O Plate.Finished in the factory Ash Gold... with black stripes, this Z/28 retains 90% of its original paint. It has all original sheet metal, original glass, original trim and original interior except the carpet. The most important part is the drive train. It does come with a matching numbers engine, transmission and rear end. DRIVE TRAINThe engine presently in the car is a 1967 327 block with all of the Z/28 302 components assembled to it. The original Holley Carburetor, factory aluminum intake, Z/28 cylinder heads, 302 crank, rods and pistons are all there. The original numbers matching block with factory VIN and suffix code need one head bolt threaded hole repaired to be put back into service. (See Pictures)The engine has a few aftermarket parts added such as an MSD Ignition system, headers and roller rocker arms. It does have the factory deep groove pulleys, original air cleaner, fan shroud and the original radiator with the tag still attached. It has a Flowmaster dual exhaust system. The 4 speed is a Muncie M21 close ratio and is the original numbers matching transmission. The rear end is a 12 bolt Posi with 4.10 gears and is the original numbers matching rear end assembly. BODYWith only 37,000 original miles, the body and paint can be truly summed up as a Survivor. It has 90% of its original untouched factory paint. There are a few flaws and minor rust in a few spots. After all, it is over 50 years old. Overall, it is very, very presentable and the paint has a great shine after all of these years. It has 100% of the original sheet metal. The factory tinted glass is still intact and the trim is still in good shape too. The trunk compartment still has the original splatter paint. The floors and trunk are rust free but early in its life the shifter tunnel was modified Vertigate shifter but has since been re-modified back to use the stock type fixture.Inside the front lower valance panel, you can see factory GM chalk markings 68 Z in the center and the lower extensions and markings as well. The engine compartment has had some painting on the firewall and inner fenders as they are glassier than original but it still has the factory emissions sticker on the back of the core support. The owner added hood pins to the hood back in the day when it was common to do so. INTERIORThe interior is all original except for the carpet and is as nice as you would expect it to be for a 37,000 mile car. No cracks on the dash pad, all of the dash brightwork and controls are in good shape. The door panels and seat covers are in beautiful low mileage condition. There is a vintage Sun Super Tach as well as a set of Stewart Warner under dash gauges that were added way back to give it that extra performance touch. SUSPENSION AND UNDERCARRIAGEThis Z/28 came with power front disc brakes and still retains the factory 4-piston calipers. It still has the original power brake booster but the master cylinder has been replaced. All of the front steering linkage, steering gear box and the original ball joints are still intact and good. The front and rear suspension are original except for new shocks. The car has 90% of the original front to rear fuel line with a fuel filter added near the gas tank. The fuel tank has been out of the car and painted silver but appear to be the original tank and sending unit. The Original owner painted the underside with black Rust-Oleum paint years ago to help preserve the car. There are no more modifications to the car other than a set of bolt-on Lakewood Traction Bars.
