1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Coupe 454 V8 4 Speed Automatic Classic Vintage Collector
1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 --
Can a car that is immediately recognizable as one of the most desirable classics of all time, dripping in chrome, painted Viper Red, with a flashy big block under the hood, be called "understated"? Maybe not. How about "tastefully bold"? This is the year that was a huge turning point for Chevy with its new design that started the legend of the Tri-Five's. The redesigned body had smooth, straight panels on the sides and hood. The light... catches those long straight body lines, reflecting off of them and the chrome as it drives down the boulevard. Up front, a big chrome bumper leads the way. All the chrome on this car is in excellent condition and shines brightly. Above the bumper is an eggcrate grill trimmed in chrome and up on top is that awesome rocket shaped hood ornament. In between is a red, white and blue Chevrolet emblem. Down the sides, slashes of chrome split the front fender and extend onto the door, picking up again at the back edge and accenting the dip in the body line behind the door. The front and back windshields wrap around in classic 50s style, and out back, another big bumper has a couple chrome exhaust tips peeking out from underneath. Open the door and you will find an interior worthy of the "tasteful" description that was custom crafted in a light Tan by Fry's Upholstery in Arkansas. The door panel is smooth and simple with arcing curves pressed into it. The power drives seat has a fold down center armrest is and dressed in leather. In front of it is a three-spoke steering wheel cut from billet, wrapped in tan and mounted on a tilt column. In front of it is the pie shaped instrument cluster dressed in chrome with Classic Instruments gauges and speedo installed. Surrounding it and extending across the dash is a polished panel embossed with little Chevy Bowties. There is a Retrosound radio in the center with speakers mounted under the dash and in the rear deck for your listening pleasure. A custom center console has bowties embossed in the sides with cup holders in the front, a nice storage compartment and armrest in the back, and the shifter for the automatic trans wrapped up in a leather boot in the middle. Oh, and don't forget to check out the beautiful trim work in the trunk! Under the hood you will find that flashy big block 454 V8 setting down in an engine bay whose fenders and firewall are as clean and shine as bright as the outside of the car. A chrome air topper feeds a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and a polished Edelbrock Performer intake. Those huge big block valve covers are embossed with a bowtie along with Chevrolet in script and were dipped in chrome too. Billet pulley frames mount a chrome alternator and air conditioning compressor whose refrigerant lines sneak out the fender to keep the firewall looking clean. Even the master cylinder and brake booster are dressed in chrome and there is an aluminum radiator with an electric fan to keep things running cool even on hot summer days in traffic. Power flows back through a 4-speed automatic trans to a 10-bolt rear end. The rubber meets the road through235/75R15 tires all around mounted on American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. Tastefully bold and absolutely stunning. This Bel Air could be yours for the cruising. Come on down and give it a look.
