Description:
1956 Chevrolet Other Pickups
My Dad Special Ordered from Fred Kincaid Chevrolet Dealership in Prague, Oklahoma September of 1956 for Christmas Delivery. The 3100 Truck came with a Regular Cab, Custom Cab or Deluxe Custom Cab. The Regular Cab is the Small Back window. Custom and Deluxe Custom Cab had the Big Back Glass, which had to be Special ordered with a 3 month delivery wait. Also the 265 V8 motor was a Special Order. Dealers had 6 cylinder Regular Cabs on the New Car Lot. The next year models also came out in September back then, so this truck is referred to as a 1956 1/2. My Dad loved this Truck. In the 1970's he drove a Chevy 3500 as his daily driver but always kept this Pick Up to occasionally drive. In 1980 my Ex-brother-in-law started driving it. He repainted it Red from the original Green, and put the Big tires on the back and did some other things. He tried to get my dad to sign it over to him. My sister divorced him in 1984 and solved that problem. My dad started driving the truck occasionally again. In 1993 my dad was 71 and was plowing with a 6 bottom plow which sticks out about 15 feet from the of the Tractor. He fueled up and headed back to the field. He misjudged and the tail end of the plow swung around and clipped the driver side rear fender. (See Photo) The Pick Up was still drive-able. In the winter of 2000 he had a 1,600 bale of hay on a bale spike on his 3500 1 ton and it was icy and he clipped the front fender above the head light. (See Scan) We have 2 sections of land with our own roads. This is where my dad would drive around. In 2005 he passed away. The truck sat, so we removed the battery and squirted upper lube in each cylinder and stored it the way we store all our equipment. I intended on fixing it up. 13 years has passed and I am getting offers for it, so I thought that I would put it up for auction. I had an artist from Ft. Worth offer $5,000 and he cuts up 1950's Chevy and GMC Trucks for art. I went on line and saw where he had half a cab of a 1958 GMC hanging in a Texas B-B-Q Joint. I want to see it on the road again. I am getting old and not in good health, this is why I am letting it go. Sold as is.Vehicle Details:
