You are viewing a privately owned 1958 Chevrolet Delray 2dr Sedan!
Classic Cars Online is helping the owner with the presentation and listing of this vehicle.
You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner.
He purchased this vehicle in California in 2010 and had it shipped from California to Ohio at that time.
According to the VIN number, this vehicle was built at Chevrolet's Oakland, CA assembly plant.
We can only assume that the vehicle spent its first 52 plus years in sunny California before it made its way over to Ohio.
1958 is the only year "Delray" was badged as a separate model. Other years where interior upgrade options.
We will try to describe and go over most of the car, please read and view all of the 58 pictures listed below.
Would you buy a car on ebay with four pictures and one paragraph of description? NO.
That is why at Classic Cars Online, our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction.
Bid with confidence!

Body & Paint: The vehicle was recently refinished and gone over. It was stripped down to bare metal. Any questionable areas where repaired correctly with metal patches. The left side of the floor area was a little weak so new floor pans were installed. The body was nosed and decked. All of the body panels were straightened, properly prepped, primed and painted with a BC-CC 2012 Ford Mustang paint color called "Red Candy". (Code U6) The paint is very nice is very little to no orange peel or any other problems. It has a deep shine with a nice reflection. This California body is solid, rust free and straight. The vehicle also comes with a set of rear fender shirts (Steel) that are painted to match the car. The entire car received new weather stripping after the vehicle was repainted.
Chrome & Trim: All of the chrome items are in great condition with no pitting or fading. Both bumpers were re-chromed and are the correct California "One Piece" bumpers. They look great with only the front bumper having some scratches on the top center section. The chrome door handles, parking light bezels, taillights bezels and both mirrors are all in very nice shape. The chrome trim on the upper section of the rear fenders were removed. The stainless trim pieces are in excellent condition. The trim looks like someone took the time of having them straighten and polished. There are a few scratches in the garnish moulding by the windshield post. The headlight bezels along with the front grille are also in great condition. All of the emblems have been removed. Dual '61 Chevy antennas were added to the rear quarters. ('61 antennas lean back more.)
Interior: The custom leather/vinyl interior was completely redone and it looks beautiful. The front seats are from a 2000 Monte Carlo. Both of the seats have power controls. This custom interior is done with leather inserts on the seats and door panels. The light beige color goes perfect with the Red Candy exterior color. The seats, door panels, carpet and headliner are all in excellent condition. No rips, holes, marks or other problems. The dash was also painted the same color as the exterior. The upper section of the dash received some flattening agent in the paint to minimize the reflections. The radio was upgraded to JVC AM/FM. A new wiring harness was installed behind the dash. The lights, gauges, odometer/speedometer and horns are all working fine including the clock. The wipers are driven by a new New Port Engineering wiper motor. The stock steering wheel is is great condition.
Glass: All of the tinted glass pieces are new except for the back glass. The windshield and rear window received new rubber seals. There are new felts and "fuzzy's" on the side windows. The side windows rolls up and down without any problems. The chrome window cranks along with the door handles are new and look perfect.
Engine Compartment: Under the hood sits a completely rebuilt '68 327 cu. in. engine. The engine compartment is highly detailed, clean and looks great. The under side of the hood, firewall, and inner fenders are clean and painted with with a nice finish. All of the belts, hoses, wires are new along with the battery and radiator. Under the chrome air cleaner is a Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor. It has a Classic Performance Product (CPP) power brake booster setup along with a CPP power steering unit.
You can read more about this power plant along with the rest of the mechanical items in the "Mechanical" section below.
Trunk Compartment: The trunk compartment is upholstered and carpeted and matches the interior. It was done by the same company that upholstered the interior. It is clean and show ready. A new spare tire along with a jack and jacking tools are all present. The trunk floor pans are original and are solid. The underside of the trunk lid has nice paint and is detailed to match the rest of the trunk area.
Wheels & Tires: All four tires are in great condition. The front tires are Continental 195/65R15 mounted on 15x6 American Racing wheels. The rear are Uniroyal 235/60R15 mounted on 15x7 American Racing wheels. These wheels are in very nice shape with no scratches, marks, or oxidation.
Frame & Undercarriage: The frame is straight and solid. (California vehicle up until 2010) It is finished with chassis black paint. From looking at the undercarriage photos, you can see how rust free this California chassis really is. It is clean but not detailed. A quick wipe down would remove a lot of the road dust and make it pop. (It's a driver.) During the restoration, there were signs that the left side of the floor pans had a few weak areas. Not taking any chances, they were properly removed and new floor pans were installed correctly on the left side. The chassis received new shocks, brakes, brake lines, brake hoses, fuel lines, fuel tank and fuel sending unit.
Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why there are several pictures of the bottom in the photo gallery. Please view them all and see why this vehicle is better then most.
Mechanical: Engine-Transmission-Rear End:
According to the casting/stamped numbers, this is a 1968 327 cu. in. engine. It was completely rebuilt before I purchased the vehicle. It received new pistons, bearings, cam, etc.. They installed a chrome oil pan which has a slight drip around the rear seal area. It runs strong with an Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor. New plugs, wires, belts, water pump and fuel pump. The engine does not tick, smoke or over heat.
The transmission is a rebuilt '60's Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed manual. A Hurst floor shifter is installed. The rear end is a stock non-posi with 3.55:1 gears. There are no problems with the transmission and rear end. It shifts smooth without any noise.
Suspension:
It has power steering via a Classic Performance Products (CPP) power steering unit. All new bushings in the front and rear. The front suspension received 2" dropped spindles with 1" dropped springs. The rear has 2" dropped springs with air shocks. The vehicle drives straight and true. It doesn't pull, shake or vibrate. The vehicle has a great looking stance with this lowered suspension.
Brakes:
It has a dual chamber Corvette master cylinder with a Classic Performance Products (CPP) power booster. The front brakes are fitted with 12"Camaro rotors and '70's Chevelle calipers. The rear brakes are drum with new hardware and springs along with self adjusters. The brake lines and hoses are new. The brake system is working great. They do not pulsate, pull, fade or make any noise. The parking brake is also working correctly.
Exhaust:
It has a 2 1/2" stainless steel exhaust system running from the stock exhaust manifolds. There are glass pack type mufflers that give the vehicle a nice mellow sound. The exhaust exits just under the rear bumper and have chrome tips. There are no holes, leaks or problems.
