WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY I GUESS YOU WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THE STORY ON THE TRUCK, BACK IN LATE 1979 A GENTELMAN IN SAN ANTONIO, TX WAS DOING WELL IN HIS FAMILY OWNED JUNK YARD AND WANTED A NEW CHEVY PICKUP SO HE WENT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ANCIRA WINTON WHICH IS STILL IN BUSINESS BUT JUST KNOWN AS ANCIRA TODAY AND PURCHASED THIS BEAUTIFULL 1980 SILVERADO BIG10 2WD.HE LOVED THE TRUCK SO MUCH HE REFUSED TO LET IT BE USED AS A WORK TRUCK AT HIS JUNK YARD, IT REALLY UPSET HIM WHEN IT WOULD GET A SCRATCH OR ANYTHING SO HE WENT AND BOUGHT ANOTHER OLDER TRUCK HE DIDNT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT. BEING THAT HE HAD A OTHER TRUCK NOW FOR DAILY USE HE NEVER REALLY USED THE BIG10 ANYMORE, HE TOLD ME HE TOOK IT TO THE COAST IN 1982 ON VACATION BRANG IT BACK HOME PARKED IT IN THE BARN AT THE JUNKYARD AND THATS WHERE IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR 36 YEARS!
SINCE HE OWNED A JUNKYARD HE WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE A CAR DEALERS LICENSE AND WHEN HE WENT TO BUY THE TRUCK HE USED HIS DEALERS LICENSE TO BUY IT AND KEEP THE MSO AND NOT HAVE TO TITLE IT. HE RAN A DEALER PLATE ON IT AND AS YOU CAN SEE ITS STILL ON THE TRUCK, THE TAB SHOWS IT EXPIRED MARCH 1982 AND ALSO THE STATE INSPECTION EXPIRED JUNE OF 1983.
NOW, BEING THAT IT ONLY HAS 2600 MILES AND FULLY ORIGINAL PLEASE REMEMBER IT SAT IN A JUNKYARD BARN FOR 36 YEARS. PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT A FRAME OFF RESTORED TRUCK. IT DOES HAVE SOME KNICKS AND SCRATCHES MOST NOTICABLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHITE PORTION OF THE TRUCK THERE ARE A FEW SCRATCHES AND A CREASE PLEASE LOOK AT PICTURES.
I DID NOT HAVE THIS TRUCK DETAILED AT ALL! IT WAS ONLY WASHED VACUUMED WIPED AND HAND WAXED! NO BUFFING OR POLISHING THAT IS ORIGINAL PAINT AND ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE SO I WILL LEAVE IT TO THE NEXT PERSON IF THEY WANT TO BUFF THE ORIGINAL LAQUER PAINT. INTERIOR STILL HAS THAT NEW SPARKLE TO IT, WE ONLY VACUUMED AND WIPED IT DOWN. NO UNDERCOATING HERE LIKE MOST YOU SEE, IT IS ALL ORIGINAL ON THE UNDERSIDE. FIREWALL STILL HAS MARKINGS ON IT FROM THE FACTORY.
TRUCK STARTS RUNS AND STOPS, THE 350 ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE A LIFTER MAYBE STUCK, AS IT MAKES A LIGHT TAPPING NOISE WHICH WAS EXPECTED FOR NOT BEING STARTED IN 36 YEARS, WE CHANGED ALL THE FLUIDS AND IM SURE IF YOU DROVE IT THE LIFTER WILL FREE IT SELF BUT IM NOT ABOUT TO PUT ANY MILES ON IT AND RUIN THE VALUE OF IT AND DEFINATLY NOT GOING TO DRIVE ON THOSE ORIGINAL 38 YEAR OLD UNIROYAL TIRES, THATS FOR THE NEW OWNER TO DECIDE ON. IT CAN PROBABLY USE NEW PLUGS AND WIRES SINCE IT STILL HAS ORIGINAL AND SOME NEW VACUUM LINE AS A FEW HAVE SOME CRACKS BUT I DIDNT WANT TO CHANGE ANYTHING UNLESS IT REALLY NEEDED IT.
I SAID AT THE BEGINING THE TRUCK IS 99% ORIGINAL ITS NOT 100% BECAUSE WE HAD TO PUT NEW GAS TANKS BECAUSE THE OWNER LEFT GAS IN BOTH TANKS AND DESTROYED THE ORIGINAL TANKS. BOTH TANKS WORK PERFECT AND SWITCH BETWEEN EACHOTHER AS THEY SHOULD. WE ALSO DID THE FUEL AND BRAKE LINES, FUEL PUMP, FLUIDS, REBUILT THE CARB AND SERVICED THE TRANS.
ALL THE LIGHTS WORK OUTSIDE, INTERIOR DASH LIGHTS WORK ALTHOUGH A LITTLE DIM. HE HAD A STEREO INSTALLED IN THE HEADLINER SOON AS HE BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND IT STILL WORKS GREAT BUT ODDLY ENOUGH ITS JUST A RADIO NO TAPE OR 8 TRACK. TRUCK HAS AC BUT CLUTCH ON COMPRESSOR IS FROZEN. THE TEXAS HEAT GOT TO THE PLASTIC SEATBELT CASINGS LOCATED BEHIND THE SEAT AND ARE VERY BRITTLE. THE HEAT DISCOLORED THE TRIM AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. THE CHROME MIRRORS AND CHROME HEADLAMP BEZELS ARE PITTING.
WITH THAT BEING SAID THE TRUCK IS STILL IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION AND WOULD MAKE ANYONE PROUD TO OWN IT. I JUST WANT TO BE HONEST AND UPFRONT ABOUT EVERYTHING.
HARD TO FIND A ALL ORIGINAL C10 ANYMORE LET ALONE ONE WITH THIS LOW OF MILEAGE AND NEVER BEEN TITLED. THESE TRUCKS ARE GOING UP IN VALUE AND WOULD BE A GREAT INVESTMENT OR SOMETHING TO ENJOY AS YOU'D PROBABLY BE THE ONLY PERSON AROUND WITH ONE LIKE THIS.
