1956 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 210
1956 Chevy 210 window handyman station wagon
This Car is more rare than a nomad and better looking and better functioning.
Legendary cars are ones that are stylish with timeless design and subtle rarity. These are the vehicles that are sought out by collectors as highly prized. It has won best of show awards at 4 major shows from Indy to Louisville to Fla. and was driven to them all not trailered!
There was a time when the 210 was often passed over for its Tri-Five brethren, the Bel Air Hardtops. Not now. The recent popularity of the two door station wagon has propelled the 210 wagon to atmospheric heights in the car collector world. And the fact that less than 2000 210 Handy man with glass rear windows and seats were built in 1956 doesn't hurt the collectability rating! Look there are only 6 for sale in the US today!
Today, finding an restored quality example is not only becoming difficult it is also becoming very expensive. My 210 handy man might be your last opportunity to buy one that is affordable, at least by contemporary standards! If you want to own and enjoy one that has been up graded to todays standards then this is the car for you! It has many factors going for it: A frame-off restoration that retained all the exterior chrome and hardware that was re-chromed.
The addition of a few much needed improvements for safety and comfort--A 2006 LS1 motor and a 40L60e transmission with overdrive, Air Conditioning, Power 4 wheel Disc Brakes, Cruise control, Vintage gauges,Tilt, Leather interior, an updated radio with iPod/Bluetooth capability and the seamless addition of a lower panel housing the air conditioning vents. Under the rear seat is the battery and a amp and a shutoff switch. It has a new ASRA approved gas tank.
The car retains it original suspension but has 2” lowered spindles in front with the rear springs moved inward to allow for larger tires. 17” on front 18” on rear!
When repainted, it was stripped down to bare metal revealing the original body panels with NO DAMAGE and NO RUST! The body was SODA BLASTED and a 2 part epoxy primer was applied and then painted in a two stage process--the result is visually stunning. Picture book included!
Likewise, when the interior was replaced, only a Complete Interior Package, including the Carpeting and Headliner, was purchased and professionally installed. Sound Deadening was added. Gorgeous!
Open the hood and what do you find? An extreme nicely detailed engine bay with the LS1 motor, That was completely rebuil, hardened intake and exhaust seats, new cam, oiler-tip rockers and a polished crankshaft, Stainless Steel Radiator, Stainless Steel Brake Lines, a new Gas tank and sending unit. New fuel lines were run, a new wiring harness was installed and the front and rear disc brakes were finished with Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors by REAL STUFF.
The notoriously finicky Rear Tailgate was completely overhauled, rebuilt and re-chromed. All original hardware (see pic).
The Original Front and Rear Bumpers were in such nice shape, and were redone as California bumper then rechromed. -- take a look. I think that just about every single nut, bolt, screw, washer, hose, line, bearing and bushing were replaced during the restoration.
Vintage Air/Heat/Defroster integrated into the Heater/Defroster controls makes for a pleasant ride in both Winter's Cold and Summer's Heat! Electric wipers were a must.
Also under the hood, you'll find the Original Cowl Tag, properly in place and matching the door vin.
The fit and finish, as well as the door and hood gaps, are equal to and probably better than when this 56 left the Assembly Line. Slide into the Interior and you're transported back to 1956--it's just that nice but rides and drives like a car you want to drive!
Everything works correctly. Absolutely no issues! Get in and Drive it!! I believe that my 1956 210 Handy man wagon is a 100% Blue Chip Investment and will only increase in value as time goes by and these Original but upgraded cars are become much rarer.
It was done as a show car but has been driven 10,000 miles but you will have to look and look to find a mark!
I know I forgot “stuff” I have receipts totally over $100,000.00 invested! buddbfortyseven at sbcglobal dot net, write forty-seven as number please.
