1990 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 southern truck
1990 Chevrolet Suburban
Southern truck, grand children's toy and kid hauler. Driven once or twice a week on childish adventures.
Purchased from an older man who was going to use it for fishing, wife changed his mind. He put on new tires, alternator, belts, hoses, battery and brakes on the truck. I upgraded the ignition coil, cap and rotor, plugs and plug wires to accell HEI, always loved this change makes for a few more MPG and plugs stay cleaner.
The Fire department that sold it (I'm the third owner) had a cheap paint job on the original paint to change it to the two tone effect? Maybe match their department paint? It plus being a southern truck saved the body.
The second coat of paint is pealing around the bay windows but the original coat is solid. The 2nd coat is dull faded and worn all over. The panel between the hood and the front window is the worst spot.
Has a nice patina it gets a lot of compliments.
The under body, floor pans, doors, under side and door wells look great.
Interior is stock vinyl with one seam coming apart in drivers side, no third seat. One of the folding seat has cloth coming loose on the back from gear sliding over it. Ashtray has one hing pin missing. Dash is coming apart from sun damage. On crease on the edge of the wheel flare on the passenger rear photo shown.
The head liner is still up and the radio worked till I removed the fire department speakers, sorry grand kids no radio.
The fire department siren gear thingy is still mounted under one of the seats.
All the door seals and wipes are dry rotted, will throw in the seals I purchased for the barn doors in the back.
Speedometer sending unit on the transmission is suspect. Speedometer is wacko most of the time. Drive it for awhile and it cleans up and starts telling
the truth.
The truck has ac that took a charge and spit out a bit of cool air then started to cycle the ac compressor. Think it needs to be vacuumed down and refilled. Maybe just add some more coolant?
Drives true, I love it on the highway or side roads. I have collected original intake and some tubing will throw in also.
I'm upping to a fifth wheel crew cab and bigger camper for the kids. Time to sell this truck.
