1967 Chevrolet El Camino Custom 1368 vin
Hello all, After spending 10 yrs on a lengthy and pricy (try over 90k) frame off put about 100 mi on it got sick & has been covered indoors on stands for 2 yrs.Gone are the days of buying these for 2-3k spending 10-15 and having something fairly decent.
If I start driving it again theres no way Id think about letting it go the fever starts all over. Sound familiar?
Up front yes there is some wiggle room but within reason, it doesnt have every feature a new Vette does, thats not what this car is about.
-Professionally built 385ci solid roller engine still smells new. Jesel, Manley, Dart, Mamo, AED, Probe, block itself is a brand new studded 4 bolt. Every last fastener is new. RCR drive system, hidden MSD with rev limiter, 3" torque tech system with X, Ultraflows. Nothing was put on and not ported, flowed, modified angle milled, even the water pump got worked over, custom alt etc. De Witts big block radiator, spal fan gets it done.
-Brand new T56 bought in 97, drove it on/off then tore the car apart. TRC trans in Chatsworth did all the hardened parts/upgrades, has about 30miles on it. Centerforce DF Clutch, Scattershield, custom 3" Torino driveshaft.
-Original 12 bolt housing with all the goodies internally from end to end;4.11 gears M/T all the way around-SSM lift bars, boxed uppers, frame supports w/provision to hang electric pump just in case. Everything under the car is brand new, every bolt/nut, polished stainless line. Blasted/sprayed in POR-15, rust isnt a worry.
Brake system new from the firewall, to the wheel cylinders, event the springs, drums etc.
-Interior is as shown, Original AC dash/rebuilt orig column, turn signals, lights all work, SS gauges, changed backlighting to a light aqua/blue.
Never bothered with the speedo (which worked smooth), GPS is the way to go, or a tach which unplugs under the dash. Small screws replaced with polished stainless
-AC was obviously removed a long time ago; set up for a Yunick style air cleaner (or a trick one that sealed to hood) that would look great fabbed out of stainless or?
12:1 steering, polygraphite bushings (dont squeak) throughout, rubber body mounts. It is very solid and tight...you feel a little more with skinnies, with meats up front its very solid. Firm ride but not stiff, it will go around a corner pretty well. New cut fronts, Hotchkiss rear. Edelbrock traction bars.
Its still an old tech car and nothing is done or perfect thats just the way they are, they all have a flaw or two.
Only electronics are upgraded headlights and an electric fan, less to go wrong. All steel light and functional.
Everything under the dash except the thick stock type sound deadener was removed and boxed. Just wiring, glovebox etc.
Under the carpet is the same exact spray material that MB and BMW uses. Same with the smugglers box.
One could probably add Vintage AC and recoup a good portion from selling the current drive system. That alone has 2k in it
Bottom line its a clean fresh straight car that is very quick, one should have no issue running 120 or better if the 1/4 is your thing.
What its not is a worn out older resto with old parts painted up to look pretty. Its not a perfect show car either youd have to see it in person it appears nicer.
I have all new emblems, woodgrain for tailgate in wrappers if thats your deal, lots of original trim, spare parts etc depending on price.
