These 1966 Big Window Short Bed Pickups are the most desirable and hard to find model of all the trucks from this era. It is also the last year for the factory clam shell hood and wood bed. Also the only year with factory reverse backup lights.

What we have here is a Custom Truck done to the highest level of craftsmanship. Everything you want to make it equivalent to a modern truck; drive-train, brakes and steering are done, while just the right amount of custom touches to the exterior. Wheels, a lower stance and removal of all emblems and the most gorgeous paint job you have ever seen on a Truck.

My buddy Joe said it best when he said in describing the truck "Self Restraint”... translation, someone resisted the temptation to go over-the-top on styling and customization. I would maybe add to Joe's comment and say "Sophisticated Restraint”... only because there are just so many little touches to this ride that make me want to drive it up to the Valet booth at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel... so I could watch all the real car guys wander over and ponder why they are so drawn to it. Simple... It looks like a Million Bucks.

The truck market seems to get a little stronger every day. From wild customs to carefully restored OEM-style builds, collectors have officially taken note of America's workhorses. Among those pickups, Chevrolet's early 60's to 72 models are one of the fastest growing subsections. With a stout 350 sporting 390hp, custom 4L60E transmission and subtle custom touches, this 1966 C10 puts an emphasis on performance while retaining all of what made these trucks great in the first place. The beneficiary of a body-off restoration, this pickup is clean, capable and ready to claim some ribbons at almost any venue you can imagine. If that sounds like your kind of truck, scoot down to San Clemente for a closer look at this killer C10.

As far as styling goes, few vehicles have aged better than GM's sixties fleet. This C10 is no exception. Toeing the line between sturdy and refined, the '62-'66 C/K is arguably the best looking built to date. This '66 left the factory wearing a coat of code 514 Chevy Red paint and, today, it stays true to that hue. Underneath the gorgeous two-stage red, a laser straight body is the result of a lot of time and a significant chunk of money. Roughly $35K was spent on fabrication, massive amounts of tweaking and blocking and blocking again to this body to make it beyond laser straight. From every angle, the truck offers crisp reflections and excellent panel fitment befitting of a quality show build. The body remains as GM designed it with nothing shaved or altered in any discernible way. Lowering and the removal of factory emblems compliments that "just right" look of classic Chevy Red. This is the kind of high-quality body work and mirror-like paint finish that doesn't need to be hidden by anything.
If Enzo Ferrari was still alive and decided he needed a cool old truck, this is how exactly how he would do it.
Class, style and elegance from the moment you look at it to the turn of the ignition switch and cruise down the road a 80 mph, this thing exudes confidence and refinement. Chevy Red and the Ferrari Red from the 60's look almost identical to me and no color could highlight this lil Red Truck better.

The pictures listed show the original truck (primered) that was used in this restoration. You will see that it was a nice straight southern truck to start with and an excellent candidate for a high-end custom restoration. Take a look at the restoration pictures and see for yourself just how much time and attention went into making this masterpiece what it is. The receipts compiled by the owner come to over $95K and he says a lot of what he spent was lost. We have nothing for the interior and yet I see at least $4000 in Leather, Steering Column, Carpeting and Radio just to name a few. Not to mentions an interior paint as detailed as the outer body panels and a fit and finish befitting a Bentley. No kidding.

While this truck has a custom look to it, you will notice on closer examination shows all of the shiny bits are factory pieces. The front end consists of a body-hugging chrome bumper, placed under a pristine grille. Walk around the corner to the classic chrome mirrors and door handles, combined with gorgeous brand new stainless side molding for a visually balanced side profile view. Around the cab, fresh glass and rubber further the showroom-new look. At the rear of the truck, another curve-hugging chrome bumper conforms to the bed, just under the tailgate. The tailgate itself features no lettering and no clunky handle, framed by brand new brake light lenses and trim at either side. The stainless trim creates an awesome look all around offering a distinctive rear view every bit as attractive as the front.

That old clunky tailgate handle was replaced by two seamless custom finger tabs that work effortlessly from inside the gate. This little gem is chock full of little custom touches that are imperceptible to the eye but enhance the whole visual experience of this elegant and stylish build. The only thing better than looking at this classic hot rod resto-magic piece is getting behind the wheel and forever changing your mind about what an old truck can be. There is absolutely NOTHING OLD about the way this truck performs and handles out on the road or in the tight corners of a parking lot.

Let me just make this really clear right here before I go any further. This is a BRAND SPANKING NEW TRUCK. Every single inch of this truck has been rebuilt or is brand new. Every single wire, nut and bolt has been attended to. The frame and most all of the steering and front end components were powder coated. It runs like a brand new factory showroom GM Truck. The alignment, steering and drive-train all perform magnificently. There are ZERO rattles or noises in this rig as you are flying down the road at 90 miles per hour. This is without doubt one of the nicest vehicles I have ever driven in my life. Period...Exclamation Point!!!

As a product of the early muscle car era, it's only right that this C10 packs some heat under the hood. The stock 327 has been replaced by a fully reworked 350 sporting 390 horses. The Block was Magna-fluxed and decked, the cylinders were bored and honed. New Cam Bearings, Pistons and Rods. The Crank Shaft was ground and the Heads were rebuilt. The Engine was balanced with all new Intake and Exhaust Valves. New Braided Fuel Lines. Custom Ceramic Coated Headers. Rebuilt 12-Bolt Rear-end. New Locar Trans and Oil Dip Sticks.... and everything else that is just too difficult to put on paper. Over $6000 was spent on this motor; nothing was left to chance.

The block is covered in traditional Chevy Orange paint and topped with rebuilt heads hidden under Custom Chevrolet Valve Covers. In the center, a polished Edelbrock intake manifold sits beneath a Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor with an K&N air cleaner up top. At the front of the engine, a polished alternator and power steering pump all spin off the belt drive, placed opposite of a large radiator and dual electric fans. Around the engine, a mix of gloss black, red and chrome make a for a show-worthy bay with plenty of contrast. Turn the key and the small block rumbles to life with the aid of a MSD ignition box. The truck has the sweetest idle, amplified by the addition of Headers and a large rear-exiting dual exhaust system tamed by a pair of Magnaflow mufflers. Roll into the throttle and the truck surges forward with all the strength its A-body and F-body siblings are famous for.

Crawl underneath this pickup and a pristine, brand new undercarriage comes into view. The floors wear the same quality paintwork as the rest of the body and all of the suspension components are freshly powder coated. In the center, a GM 4L60E four-speed automatic handles shifting duties before sending small block power back to a 12-bolt rear, dressed in a satin black cover. The combination of gorgeous black powder-coating and stainless abundance everywhere makes for a visually appealing and exquisite undercarriage. Up front and underneath sports a brand new custom front end by CPP (Chevy Performance Products) and makes for a whole new driving experience to this old classic. The steering is crisp, precise and effortless.

When the roads get curvy or the parking gets tight, the power steering system is a welcome addition, as are the upgraded 4-wheel Power Disc brakes at all corners. The front and rear wear large discs to give you maximum braking power at speed. Braking power is supplied by a stock appearing brake booster mated to a performance master cylinder. At the corners, polished 17x8 American Racing Torque Thrust II's meet the ground through Nitto NT450 tires in sizes 255/50R17 and 275/50R17, respectively.

Between the doors, an elegant and tastefully finished interior makes this cab a pleasant place to spend time. At the ground level, clean black carpet is capped off by chrome door sill plates. Seating is provided by a rebuilt bench seat, wrapped in tan leather with black GM seat belts that tie into the exterior color nicely. At either side, fresh matching tan door panels in matching leather. From the driver seat, the view consists of a pristine gauge cluster with factory instrumentation that monitors speed, temperature, battery output and oil pressure. Rarely do you see the Vacuum gauge and Tach in the dash, but this one has it and it's way cool.

A polished tilt modern set-up column topped by a three-spoke GM wheel connect the driver to the front wheels. This isn't some tilt column out of a 90's Ford Ranger, this is a brand new column, set up to look like it was a column that came with the truck from the factory. If you love to shift you will love the 1,2,3, Drive Transmission setup on this high-tech shifting column. And if you are sporting a little pouch these days you will slip right into this one without having to resort to a smaller steering wheel. One of the coolest things about these old rides is the giant steering wheels from that era. This modern "old school" column adds just the right touch to this elegant yet classic interior. If you like to "lean" onto the steering wheel while you are cruising down the road this one will accommodate in many positions. Restraint... I love it.

To the right, a brand new Sony-branded AM/FM Stereo with MP3 and WMA sends signal to two 6 1/2 inch Pioneer speakers mounted in the kick panels. Slide the seat forward and you will notice a nice space for your stuff. Gone is the factory fuel tank, tastefully repositioned to the rear of the truck where it should be. A handsome chrome gas cap is placed in the rear corner of the bed for easy and convenient refills.
Clean enough to show at the highest levels; by all means, this is a SEMA quality build. It's comfortable enough to drive and powerful enough to put a smile on your face, this C10 offers a little something for every kind of enthusiast. If you're ready to experience the muscle car era from a different perspective, don't miss the chance to put this '66 C10 in your garage today!
If you were to see this Lil Red Truck at Barrett Jackson, you could easily pay $70K for this kind of quality custom truck. The owner needs to sell it and it will be sold. This is a NO RESERVE Auction.
