1968 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 74631 Miles Yellow Coupe 496 V8 4 Speed Manual
1968 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
If you're an extrovert who craves attention, this 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe will deliver in a very big way. With a searing yellow paint job on a cool wide body kit, a freshly built 496 cubic inch big block, and rumbling side pipes, it's one of those cars that looks outrageous and backs it up with outrageous performance. We know the look isn't for everyone but for those of us who love Corvettes with a little personality, this one... gets it right. The wide body kit was installed a few years ago, and includes a whole lot of extra work. In fact, there's not a single panel on this car aside from maybe the T-tops that hasn't been modified in one way or another. From the custom 1-piece nose with exposed headlights to the flared rear fenders with built-in spoiler, this car looks spectacular. We like the fact that they just went with bright yellow rather than some graphics or stripes, because that bodywork needs no help in attracting attention. It's in good shape, too, proving that this wasn't some home-built kit but something that cost a lot of money to build. It was done a while ago, so the paint could use a professional buff, but if you want to just get in and go prowling, this 'Vette is ready to rock. They've also added cool LED driving lights up front that give it a unique look day or night, as well as convex taillights lenses that transform the rear of the car. The interior is a bit more sedate, keeping to the original recipe. The high-back bucket seats are faced in comfortable cloth instead of slippery vinyl, which helps with both comfort and control. You'll note some alligator skin on the center console and a smaller diameter wheel, but those are minor details that don't change the look very much. Factory gauges are in excellent shape with bright, clear numbers and it's nice to see a 4-speed manual transmission in a car that looks like this. You also get an AM/FM/CD stereo tucked under the dash so the original AM/FM unit could stay in the center, although it's obviously not operational. Power windows are a nice option, and there are upgraded speakers behind the seats. As good as the C3's cockpit is, it's nice to see they didn't try to reinvent the wheel. The engine is a freshly built 496 cubic inch big block that has about 400 test and tune miles on it. We have receipts dating from February 2017 when the work was done, and it all adds up to more than $11,000 worth of upgrades. The engine was painted to match the bodywork and dropped into the engine bay, which was likewise cleaned and detailed. There's a fresh radiator, an MSD ignition system, new water pump, fresh starter, and a long, long list of new stuff packed in there with the rebuilt engine. It starts and runs superbly and you'd better believe that big block delivers a hearty whack of torque when you step on the loud pedal. A few polished pieces add some contrast and you get power steering and brakes as part of the package. It's clean underneath, too, although not as detailed as the engine bay. The long-tube headers feed the side pipes an incredible song, while the 4-speed benefits from a blow-proof bellhousing for safety. The suspension has been lowered a bit, but it's mostly stock so ride quality is decent and it sits on ultra-wide 15-inch Torque Thrust wheels with 245/60/15 front and 295/50/15 rear BFGoodrich rubber. It's cool, it's fast, and it's in-your-face. If that's how you like your Corvettes, then this cool Stingray delivers in a big way. Call now!
