1972 Chevrolet Corvette 26572 Miles White Coupe 350 V8 Automatic
1972 Chevrolet Corvette --
This 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is an unusual combination of beauty and brawn, and includes some nice options as well as a matching-numbers drivetrain. Clean, original, affordable Corvettes are still out there, and the pedigree is a nice bonus for the guy looking to have some Corvette fun at a reasonable cost. Code 972 Classic White is handsome and crisp, a familiar color that looks great on the timeless Stingray shape. It was one of the most popular 1972 colors... with 2763 Corvettes built in this color, and it still looks pretty up-to-date with today's sophisticated color pallets. Repainted about six years ago, all the panel gaps are factory correct, and it has a nice gloss to the finish with none of the cracking in the usual spots. Aside from a few minor signs of use that could be erased with a deep buff, this sucker looks absolutely fantastic. And when it comes to C3s, you're either a chrome bumper guy or a rubber bumper guy; this one sports the original style chrome units that frame the egg crate grilles up front and add interest to the flat rear panel with CORVETTE block letters above. The stainless trim is in excellent shape and the black pinstripes highlighting the hood are a great touch. This is one clean-looking 'Vette! Believe it or not, that code 417 saddle interior is how this car was ordered, and you have to admit that the combination works extremely well. It's also likely to be one of only a handful of cars in this color combination, making it a standout at shows and Corvette events (black and blue interiors were far more common). As a well-maintained car, the line between the original components and new pieces is blurry, but that's a good thing, with new carpets working in conjunction with recent seat covers. The entire interior shows just the right amount of patina, and it's very difficult to determine what has been replaced. We suspect that the dash pad, console, and maybe even the door panels are original, and the gauges are all crisp and their lenses are scratch-free, more proof that someone cherished this car from day one. This Corvette is nicely optioned with functioning power windows, an AM/FM radio, and an automatic transmission (which is now a 700R4 4-speed unit), making it the kind of car you can drive cross-country without a second thought. The engine is the original, matching numbers ZQ3 350 cubic inch V8, which was the base engine in 1972. Nevertheless, it makes an impressive 360 pounds of torque and moves the Corvette with enough potency that most cars are still advised to leave it alone. It was rebuilt not too long ago with an upgraded cam, Edelbrock E-Street aluminum heads, custom intake, MSD ignition, and a rebuilt Quadrajet carburetor. The engine bay shows lots of recent work, including bright chrome details throughout plus Chevy Orange paint on the block. The original TH400 3-speed automatic transmission was replaced with the aforementioned 700R4 with overdrive, so it's a fantastic highway cruiser, and long-tube headers feed a replacement dual exhaust system that sounds great. It's not detailed, but it's in excellent driving condition with evidence of clean living everywhere you look, and those factory Rally wheels ride on a set of fat BFGoodrich T/A radials. Clean, honest Corvettes don't get much nicer than this, especially if you're the kind of guy who likes to just jump in and go. Thanks to the rumbling small block under the hood it's a party to drive, and there aren't many cars that will generate more attention than this one on a warm summer day. Call today!
