This is one of my personal project vehicles. Been workin' on it for quite some time and turnin' out nice. Every time I drive it somewhere, someone wants ta check it out.... and then stand around and talk old trucks. My 30 minute trips ta the Post Office, Store, or where ever usually turn out ta be a hour+ trip. I guess that's half the fun of having it, huh?.
THE GOOD STUF- FIRST OF ALL... YES, CURRENTLY TAGGED, CALIFORNIA TITLE, FREE AND CLEAR IN HAND IN MY NAME- 2 COMPLETE SETS OF KEYS- STARTS AND RUNS GREAT FOR A 50 YEAR OLD TRUCK- REAR CAB CORNERS, FLOORS, BOTTOMS OF DOORS, ROOF GUTTER, AROUND WINDSHIELD, AND DOOR SILLS ARE SOLID,NO RUST-OUT / ROT, ALL SOLID STEEL (SURPRISEHUH? Not In California folks!)- NEW WHEELS (22.5 x 6.75 tubeless) ALL AROUND (NOS "ACCURIDE" UP FRONT, NEW WN28160J'S IN BACK, SUPPLIED BY "WHEELS NOW"... Accuride no longer makes this wheel, they recommended "Wheels Now", who purchased the rights to Accurides specs and manufacturing rights... ALL WITH DOT NUMBERS AND CERTS.)- ALL LIGHTS WORK AS THEY SHOULD, Hi / Lo beam, Tail / Stop and Turn and Clearance lights- NEW "BACK-UP" LIGHTS MOUNTED ON TOP OF "STACK RACK", AND WORK WHEN IN REVERSE AS THEY SHOULD.- WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORK.- ALL GLASS THERE WITH NO CRACKS NOTICED. (There are a few very light "windshield wiper marks" where some-one ran wipers with minimum rubber on them... AND... some very slight "fogging" on furthest left and right sides of windshield.... can't see well in pictures, so I have ta tell ya that they are there)- DOOR HANDLES, WINDOWS and WING VENT WINDOWS WORK AS THEY SHOULD...(fairly easily actually.... NEW, NOT INSTALLED YET, window FELT KITS FOR BOTH DOORS INCLUDED with sale)- HOOD AND DOORS ALIGN NICELY WITH BODY AND FENDERS, NICE EVEN GAPS ALL AROUND- NEW DELUXE DOOR ARM RESTS- NEW GLOVE BOX, "BOX" WITH NEW LOCKING (Keyed with doors) PUSH BUTTON OPENER LATCH- NEW DOOR LOCKS WITH KEYS, (Door locks and glove box keyed alike)- NEW STAINLESS STEEL CAB DOOR SILLS- NEW HEAVY DUTY ALUMINUM SIDE BOXES, FRAME MOUNTED, double latched with locks and keys.- FRAME REAR HALF HAS BEEN RE-WORKED WITH ALL NEW LIGHTS, NEW 15,000# TOW HITCH, MUD FLAPS AND FRONT OF REAR TIRE 1/4 FENDERS.... LOOKS BEAUTIFUL! with a large open area between rear axle and rear of frame for a 25 to 30 gallon gas cell to be mounted (AND PROTECTED)! (My "plan" was to remove the gas tank from behind the seat... leave the tank filler AND CAP as stock... just no tank inside, for more leg room and no "gas smell" inside cab... YES, original gas tank is STILL INSIDE and OPERATIONAL)See pictures- BEAUTIFUL NEW TWIN EXHAUST STACKS, WITH NEW EXHAUST FROM ORIGINAL CAST IRON CHEVY HEADERS TO STACKS... NO MUFFLERS AND SOUNDS GREAT!(I drive this truck around all the time, and never been stopped for exhaust noise... never been stopped for anything for that matter..... and remember... this is California...)- WHEEL LUG NUTS HAVE STAINLESS STEEL CAP/COVERS ALL AROUND (a bag of "extras" IS INCLUDED with sale)- ALL OF REAR FRAME and FRONT BUMPER, WERE CLEANED, WIRE WHEELED AND SANDED AND OXIDE PRIMED. PLUS IT LOOKS GREAT!(YES, this is a LATE 50's / EARLY 60's front bumper, NOT original. It is a subtle change and I personally did NOT LIKE the look with the deeper, flat look of the 68 original front bumper. My opinion... the early 60's has more "style".... and, no... I do NOT still have the 68 bumper)- ORIGINAL RADIO STILL IN PLACE(Not working... but it IS there and LOOKS BEAUTIFUL and so cool!)- STILL HAS ORIGINAL FACTORY DECALS ON GLOVE-BOX DOOR, AND HEATER SHROUD AND I.D. PLATES ON DOOR JAM. NO SAGGING, NO SLAMMINGOR HARD PULLING TO OPEN OR CLOSE... NICE!- ALL THE BOOKS AND PARTS PICTURED ARE INCLUDED IN SALE!! (The one owners manual, in the zip-lok bag in the center of the picture IS THE ORIGINAL, WITH THE TRUCK... sweet huh?)- AND the list goes on and on... SHE'S READY TO DRIVE ANYWHERE YA HAVE THE NERVETO TAKE HER... I DRIVE IT ALL AROUND TOWN, BUT I WOULDNOT DO A 100 MILE FREEWAY TRIP WITH HER... SHE'S LOW GEARED, EVEN IN "HI" REAR END, AND SHE'LL BEAT YA TA DEATH... I HAVEN'T DRIVEN MORE THAN 15 MILES AT 60 MPH. IF YA WIN THE BID... YOU CAN BE THE JUDGE

ALL hinges are tight with NO SAGGING, just got 2 new top ones so they would have the "Door Open Stops" new, and functional on both doors!)- THERE ARE A FEW BODY "DRILLED HOLES" HERE AND THERE FOR WHAT-EVER YEARS AGO (Not welded in yet as I haven't gotten to the body work yet... don't want ta fill something I will need later)- FRONT END WANDERS SOME, BUT IS CONTROLLABLEWITH NO SHACKING OR BOUNCING (Just don't want ya ta think it steers like a "NEW" truck... THE HISTORY(Ya don't have ta read all this part... it's just a little history, of why I have her.... and why she's up for sale now...)Back in 1967 my Buddy's Uncle owned a little gas station and feed store in a little (back then) town of "Poway, California" (On Midland Road) that we worked part time for. He purchased a brand new 68 Chevrolet C-50 Flat Bed equipped just like this one, extra spring pack and all. We were both 19/20 then, and he sent us out to the valley to pick up a load of hey. We asked him, how many bales he wanted....He told us "Load her up... full! she's NEW and she'll hold it", gave us some cash and sent us on our way. WE HAD A "BLAST" driving that truck out to the valley... real "bouncy" but fun. Got ta the Alfalfa loading area (the sun was just comin' up and ya could smell the sweet smell of the fresh cut Alfalfa fields) and loaded her up... maybe to much.... but he was right she held it good. WELL, on the way back we had some steep, narrow roads ta climb... with the hill on the right side and the canyon on the left, we went up the hill, a little slow and the truck tipped over (way top heavy) on a right curve heavilybanked (goin' to slow I guess, huh)... the truck just slowly leaned over onto the bank... and the hey stayed on and laidon the bank first... so nobody and nothing was hurt... except our "pride". Of course... no cell phones back then, so someone stopped ta see if we were ok... no truck damage, no personal injuries to us... just all laid on the side of the hill... stopped... so he took my buddy ta the next town, a little (back then) town of "Julian, California" and called CHP and his Uncle... (Oh BOY!)... CHP got us a tow-truck and backhoe ta get us up-right again, and got us to a, somewhat level "Wide Spot" in the road... then we had ta wait for his Uncle ta get to us (a couple hours) with his old (1953) flat bed Chevy truck ta get the new one out of "top heavy mode", and naturally, get a butt chewin' from the CHP. No ticket.. just a real good chewin'.... and back then... they were good at it too! A couple hours later his Uncle showed up, he made sure we were ok and checked his NEW TRUCK... Then we got another REAL GOOD BUTT CHEWIN' (again? OH BOY) and we moved some hey bales off and onto the old truck.. CHP left and we proceeded back ta Poway, safely, with no more problems. Un-loaded both trucks (in the dark of night) and had a few laughs. Quite the day, never will forget that day!
Anyway, so many memories of that C-50 and all the good (and crazy) times we had in it... I came across this C-50 in Southern California and just had ta have it, got it home to here in Concord, California and been fixin' it up ever since.... and still havin' fun.
I am at a point where I love this truck "somewhat original"... but have the urge to re-build the original motor a little "hopped up", or put a big, bad hot rod motor in it, or just leave it as is and drive it 'till it dies (heck, the way these older trucks were built, I may die before it does... That's a BIG huh, huh?)... then replace it completely (but I hate ta loose the original 4 bolt main 327 that way!)....decisions, decisions, decisions... huh...???
AND NOW the misses is getting tired of the mess, and delays, and what she calls "wastein' time".... (HUH!.... I say softly...) and wants this project gone... "here we go"... no sense inresisting... I'll never win.... NEVER have, NEVER will... Ya MIGHT THINK ya WON... But later.... ya KNOW YA LOST!.... RIGHT?!.... sothis GREAT C-50 is up for sale.
So now ya know.....
