What’s not to love about a classic that defines the dominant era of Chevrolet muscle? Nothing; and that’s why this pro-tourer, with its 396 cubic inch big block, custom chassis and custom interior, is the perfect prize for the muscle car fan who wants the best of everything! Only two years after a professional, body-off restoration, this Chevy hardtop features a sinister appearance that’s highlighted by the immaculate assembly including an Art Morrison GT Sport Chassis. We all know it’s difficult to perfect a body that’s sprayed in deep black. But no dismay; just take one look down the sides of this Chevelle’s solid body and it’s clear that the 100% original sheetmetal is aligned to better-than-factory fit. Note the well-adjusted pivot points and feel how smoothly they close to provide an excellent fit, which is highlighted by precise gaps and a glossy finish. In 2012, the car was purchased in original condition by the previous registered owner. The car was original, having spent its life in the deserts of Phoenix, Arizona. The car was commissioned to Randy Ways, of All Ways Hotrods for a complete overhaul. Few cars fit the ‘muscle car’ description better than a Chevelle. And when you build a Chevelle to perform, you’d better have something serious under the hood. Twisting 475 horses and 500 lb./ft. of mind bending torque, proves that this coupe is all business. The short block utilizes General Motors components along with a Edelbrock hydraulic cam to round out the essentials. The air/fuel mixture is supplied by a Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake Manifold, managed perfectly by a and Holley 850 cfm carburetor. That mixture flows through to ported and polished Edelbrock Heads. Two electric puller fans and matte black Vintage Air serpentine pulleys ensure the engine runs cool and steady. Details like stainless hardware, custom stainless fluid lines and matte black components create a clean and purposeful aesthetic. Today’s highways and roads make it tough for a 60’s car to turn and stop efficiently and with safety in mind. This Chevelle has been carefully outfitted with state of the art underpinnings from Art Morrison. The car contains a fully custom GT Sport Chassis from AME, with power rack and pinion steering, 14 inch Wilwood Brakes and Corvette Independent Front Suspension. The Chassis offers more rigidity and stiffness, making for a smoother ride and more controlled maneuverability. Not to mention the increased corner-carving ability making it possible for a 50 year old classic to chase down many of today’s super cars. Inside the car, clean 60s style is augmented with original front buckets and a rear bench that are all-day comfortable. In front of those seats, sits a Classic Instruments modified gauge cluster, including a tachometer and a retrofit speedo. On the floor, high quality carpet, matching mats, and a custom shifter from Hurst complete the look. Lastly, a Flaming River steering column spins a Billet wheel worked to a high polish. On the road, this car is a functional 21st century vehicle. It is road tested, sorted, and approved. With an efficient engine, and an overdrive transmission, driving at highway speeds for hours at a time is a non-issue. This Chevelle has it all. It represents state of the art engineering, combining subtle design with a first class restoration. Take it to the local cruise… Take it to the major shows… Or put it in your gallery and showcase it. Whatever you choose, this Chevy is sure to be the car you most look forward to driving!
