1985 Chevrolet C-30 Crew Cab Dually Pickup with Aftermarket Banks Turbocharged Detroit 6.2 Diesel Engine.


Vehicle runs and drives fine. I drove it back and forth 3 times with my trailer to move to Tennessee from New England last year. Last trip I had an ignition problem 800 miles from home with a trailer so I bought a 20 year newer version of the same vehicle. If I was not doing the long distance driving the old Chevy would have been fine for my local needs. Mileage is not known. The odometer only goes up to 99k and turns over.

Put 6 new tires on the truck and aligned front end. ($1000)All new front brakes, calipers rotors etc. ($1000)Had the transmission checked and serviced. A previous owner disconnected the vacuum line which affected the shifting. Transmission shop corrected the issue and serviced tranny. ($500)Complete new leaf springs and shackles for the rear-end. ($1200)New heavy duty Batteries ($200)Replaced the switching mechanism for the dual fuel tanks.Replaced fuel return lines.Replaced Starter ($350)Replaced Alternator ($150)Replaced Power Steering Box ($500)Replaced the module that the fuel filter attaches ($200)New driver side power window motor.Replaced ignition.
Has steel plate and drop ball for goose-neck trailerin bed.Has working brake controller for trailer.Drives straight and true.No problem dropping a ton of grain in the bed or a cord of green oak and driving it home.Great farm truck!


That being said, what are the negative points.
Upholstery in front seat on driver side is torn. I put a seat cover over it.I did not fix the AC, needs a new pump.Leaks a little diesel.Fuel gauges work but are not accurate.Some rust on cab on door sills, floor by driver side and center pillars, rest of truck is in very good condition.
