1957 Chevrolet Utility 150

This is a 1957 Chevrolet 150 Utility 2dr.post sedan. Out ofover 1.5 million '57Chevrolets made, only 8300 were this model. Only the Sedan Delivery and the Nomad were more rare. This was the most basic car you could buy from Chevy, and the cheapest. The back windows don't roll down. There was no back seat. No radio, not even an ash tray. It does have the optional heater which is not installed. It wasn't considered a collectible car for a long time, but it was a popular car for drag racing, stock car racing, etc. So a lot of them were cut up, modified or wrecked. A lot of them were simply crushed. How many are left now? I don't know, but I'm sure it remains the rarest of all '57 Chevys, which is arguably the most iconic car ever made. Add to that the fact that this car is completely unmolested and original except for someone removing the drivetrain, and it screams collectible to me. Also, the vast majority of these cars came with 6 cylinder engines. This was a factory v-8 car. So it's rare. And it's extremely straight for a 61 year old car. The last time it was on the road was 1973. I have a clear title not in my name. I bought it about a month ago and the title is dated. There is some rust. Please look at the pictures carefully. Most of the rust is around the back window. There is also rust along the back side of the trunk floor and the panel that goes under the back bumper is completely toasted. A new one is available for under 100 bucks for a repro. There is rustthrough on the inner wall above the floor above the pass. side rear floor. The floors are actually in good shape except for the very back of the trunk. There is a rust hole on one front fender and one door. The bottoms of the doors have a little rust through. It's impossible to tell how bad it all is until it's stripped completely, but as an experienced auto-body man, I can tell you it's well worthy of a complete restoration. Gassers are big right now and this is a prime candidate. If you want a Black Widow clone, this is the car to start with. You will search long and hard to find another one at all, and especially one this original. This car was made in Los Angeles.Missing items are: Right hood hinge, Chevrolet script on hood, engine, transmission, radiator, one of the gas tank straps, exhaust, and the steering wheel is incorrect. I think it's a '55. There may be some other small things missing, but it's a very complete car for it's age. The stainless all looks great, the chrome is straight but will need re-plated.I will help with loading it as far as using my muscle and I work nights so I'm available most days with an appointment. This would have been my dream car in high school, but now I want to fix up my '46 Cadillac Ambulance. Clear title not in my name. No big hurry to move the car so you have time to come and get it.
